Electrical Short while Driving

Electrical Short while Driving
This is a new one on me. I've never had this issue with any past cars, or even heard of it happening. Mechanically my 8 is running sound. It has about 130k on it. 6 speed. No modifications. I had to replace my steering column about 8 months ago, and it fixed just about everything. Although it left me with no power to my steering wheel, so my ABS sensor is constantly blinking, audio controls won't work, horn doesn't work, etc etc. I've been procrastinating on trouble shooting that, but I need to get it figured out. Anyhow, that aside, I was driving last night, and was sitting at a stop light when my car just shut down completely, then all of my dashboard instruments started back up, and I started my car back up like nothing happened. Then later on, as I was driving, all of my electrical instruments yet again just shut off and reset, but the car kept running this time. What could possibly cause this? I feel that it may have something to do with when the steering column was replaced, and left me with no power to my steering wheel. Although this power reset electrical short situation just started occurring within the last week. If you guys have any clue as to what this could be, please shoot me some info. Thanks

check the mains harness that runs by the steering column for any wear or tear. I would also check the negative terminal of the battery to make sure it isn't corroded (it simply runs to the frame of the car) and also check for wear on the positive cable (which runs to the starter)
