electronic display problems

First off, I have a 2004 RX-8
The summer heat caused my display to go all wonky so I decided to replace it. I found the instructions and pulled the radio and the display with no issues. While I had it apart I decided to do the I Pod hack. I dissassembeled the radio unit with ease, put it all back together and put the new display in. Plugged in all the climate controls, and the power/speaker plug and decided to test it all out before putting the car back together.
The electronic display will light up but wont display anything. The radio unit does nothing but it will eject cd's. The fan will come on but the I cannot change any of the modes of climate control. I have taken it out and put it in numerous times. The DSC indicator is flashing and the loss of traction light is permanently lit. That is new. . . the car is all stock and all parts were being replaced with stock parts.
I desoldered the aux in line and still everything is unresponsive. Any ideas. . . I dont know what else to do.

If you have disconnected the battery, you have to get rid of the DSC light by turning the key to "on" then rotate steering wheel to full clockwise then anticlockwise. Then turn key to "off", it should be gone after that.

Think I found the issue. I got the DSC light fixed after some searching on the forum.
there gave been many threads about the messed up digital display but finding solutions to the problem takes a ton of digging. I know I am new here, but I think it would be a good idea to add a thread with a fix to one of the exsisting stickies.

Problem with that is we get noobs that don't bother searching or reading stickies and dicks like me that post garbages that makes it harder for people to find useful information, its a vicious cycle...

Problem is fixed. Turns out that I had a broken mount on the face plate that wasnt allowing a solid connection between the unit and the faceplate. Wish I had know that this was the issue before I bought another digital display but you live and learn I guess.
Ok, took the car out for a test drive and it did it again. . . none of the faceplate mounts are broken. Not one to let this **** beat me, I got out my dremel tool and ground down the face of each one of the mounts about 1/8 in so that I am sure the damn pins will have a positive connection. . . working so far.
I understand that noobs on the forum can be a pain in the ***. I am new to this forum but was active on RX-7 club and several other forums, so I understand the frustration of people not using the search function. In the two hours I searched to find my problem I found only one post in one thread that was actually of use to me. . .
Seems that this is a somewhat common problem and a relatively easy fix. Wish I knew what I know now before I started.
