And Gomez.... you got lucky with this one I guess if you get a base package, no frills, you can walk away with a new 8 for 25k USD or so.... that is a bit cheap. I went fully loaded so I guess it doesn't feel cheap to me, hehe.
Maybe mazda should have put a Id-10T detector in the PCM, it has every other darn thing to limit power
Oh well, I guess I'll just go back to clutch-dropping, wheel-hopping, burn-outing, and drifting around Boston in my 8

Jesus you kids would have been better off putting vice grips on the rear brake lines then stepping on the gas and the brakes at the same time if you wanted to burn off your tires.
BTW I have a 87 Grand National and I do NOT do drops in it. Seems like your friend has a farther with the money, why don't you just put in a stall converter for your tranny. It's how the pros do it
I'm in tears reading this thread.... Christ I need a beer now

I'll see that beer and raise you a shot of tequila!
Poor, poor misguided youth. Forget the burnouts and take it out on some twisties. On second thought, don't do that....you'd probably wrap it around a tree.

Doing burnouts in an RX8 looks about as cool as riding in the back of a Pick-up truck.
It just doesn't.

Dude that shouldn't hurt the car. If I where you I would have rev'd it to redline, then hit first.
Oh and don't listen to these guys, to fix that tranny slip, you have to do the same thing but drop it into Reverse instead of first, about 4 or 5 times. That should make everything seal back up correctly.
OH and if you really want to get more horsepower, pull out your air cleaner so more air gets to your engine, then should be able to burnout with having to "Neutral Drop" it.

Buy an auto tranny to do burn outs?
Take it in get it fixed...... lesson learned. Next time buy a stick. But then you will get so many careless tickets from the police that you'll loose your license. Or maybe you'll slide into something and wreck it.
I thought that was one of the first things they taught you not to do in an Automatic.

Forget fixing the 8. Save your money for this. I guarantee you will attain the level of coolness you so desire.

Sure, either you are lying or this guy's dad just financed 22k to buy this Shinka that will most likely be exhibiting the same "problems" within the month... (read: stupid dad) Since I'm sure the dealership didn't do any kind of equitable trade with a 30k mi car exhibiting "problems".
