engine will not start :( not sure if battery or what
Hi guys
Let me start off by saying I bought an RX8 a month or so ago, it has just been sitting there doing nothing. After buying the car it did a 250 mile trip back home and started fine everything was fine. I would start the engine and leave it running for a while until the batter is charged and engine doesn't flood etc.
the problem I'm having is I haven't done anything in maybe 2 week? I went to start it up today and nothing. car would not start, it used to start every time all the time.
At first I thought it was the battery but the radio/windows and everything else still functions.
It makes a funny clicking noise, after the 2nd time you start it up.
I've uploaded a video of the sound to see if you have heard it before in your 8 and might be able to help me out.
fingers crosses it is just the battery as i am really pissed right now
its a 2004, only for 47k miles on the clock too.
thanks a lot guys

Dead battery. The gauge cluster doesn't take much power to light up, and will do so for long after the battery no longer has enough power to turn over the starter fast enough. The cranking speed before it dropped to clicking is WAY too slow, about what you would expect for a dead battery.
Keep in mind that it is possible that attempting to start it on the dead battery may have flooded it. Probably not, since it doesn't sound like you got enough cranking for the injectors to open, but the chance exists.

thank you so much.
i did not start it too much, i know short starts/turning on and off can flood the car so kept away from it.
having too many car problems recently! my rover metro just had immobilizer problems and i fixed that by resoldering the fob and then went to sort my 8 out and this happened, best make sure i start the car every couple of days now
