Exhaust Leak?

Hello guys,

A few days ago I received an Exoticspeed midpipe to replace my Agency Power midpipe. Of course the first thing I went to do when I got it was jack up the car and install it. I went out and got new nuts and bolts and everything, however I did not get new gaskets. I tightened the hell out of everything because of this, but I still think I have a leak. The sound is coming from under the car and I can hear it throughout the entire powerband while accelerating. It's basically just a very fast "tick tick tick tick", kind of like the sound . It sucks because I can imagine the midpipe sounding very clean (barely any rasp!) without this ticking noise, but with this noise it sounds raspy all the time. It's embarassing, really.

This is my first time diagnosing an exhaust leak so I just want to hear from your guys' personal experiences: Can new gaskets fix this problem? I purchased the high performance "crush" gaskets off of Race Roots as I figured that would be the final solution to this issue, but now I'm scared of them not helping at all and that's $45 wasted. ugh!

I dunno, I just want some input. I'm 99% positive that this ugly sound is definitely a leak, probably coming from the header-to-midpipe flanges, but I feel like even with new gaskets it will not go away. It's also noteworthy that after I put on the Exoticspeed pipe and heard the sound, I took it off and put my Agency Power back on using the same bolts/gaskets and I did NOT hear this ticking noise.

I saw that, but I wouldn't imagine it being any different than any other O-ring gasket. I might end up trying it if nothing else works.

I just got back from the autoparts store and they managed to have one header-to-cat gasket left. The noise definitely comes from that area so I'll try putting in this gasket in an hour or so to see if it helps.

yeah thats weird... i would guess that it has something to do with a gasket seeing as you replaced the bolts and said everything was tight.
i hope that fixes your problem, good luck.

also what do you plan on doing with your agency power midpipe?
