Question Exhaust System Help Please!!

Hey there! i'm a newbie to the Rx8 club,

I wanted to buy a new exhaust system for my RX8 (preferably the one from Racing Beat) and so i went to the Mazda Dealership to ask them about it. They said that a new exhaust system on it would mess up the engine and the engine would have to be retuned.... i've never heard of this before and i see many other Rx8s on the road with different exhausts??? i'm confused So i guess the question i'm getting at is would the racing beat exhaust mess up my engine?? please help A.S.A.P. Thanks!

why would racing beat sell it if it messed it up.

do your research

racing beat has been working on rotaries for 30 years, they know what they're doing.

and i can vouch for it because i have the Race exhaust system.

and always search first

oh oh one more thing i have a question about
sorry for my lack of rx8 knowledge i'm just 17 lol anywayz back to my question
i asked the dealership about bigger rims that are not from mazda and they said that any rims that are not from them would not cool the brakes properly and any rims larger than 18s would make the tire pressure light stay on.... regardless i'm getting new rims soon and i was just wondering if any of this would happen???

again, just use the Search button.

the wrong guy (me) replied to this, meaning: i'm too lazy to find them for you. I, too, received my 8 at 17 (i'm now 18). Just search, this topic has been discussed more than enough times.

ask the dealer if the mazdaspeed exhaust messes up the car. then ask them how the tire pressure sensor knows what size the wheels are..

stop posting start reading...

Lol, sounds like a crappy dealer... I'd find another one.

I don't see how an exhaust pipe can mess up the engine...? If any part of your exhaust system were going to do such a thing, I'd think it would have to be at, or before, the catalytic converter. The rear section of the exhaust doesn't seem to do more than affect the car's sound.

Wheels won't be an issue. These cars come with different wheel sizes depending on trim level (aren't some autos equipped with 16s? or is it 17s?). Just be sure whatever wheels you get are compatible with the tire pressure sensors, or order a set with the wheels to be safe.

And again, find another dealer. This bunch sounds a little shady.

Your dealership is full of poop and I would take my car somewhere else or find a more knowledgeable service writer. I swear, the things that some dealerships will say to prevent you from going elsewhere for parts or services.

Here's the gist of things. Bolt on parts for your car (exhaust, intake, different wheels, etc.) will not do much for performance, but you'll like the sound and look more. They certainly won't hurt your car.

Just do a little research on these forums when you narrow down what you want. Believe me, anything product out there, someone has put it on their rx8 and has written a review.

Happy reading and welcome to the club!
