Failing to keep power after 6500 RPMS
Ok look i have read that it may the ignition coils, exhaust is messed up, and others but here is my issues.
I started to drive it the other day and when i got the RPMS past 6500 it started to blow smoke out the exhaust, lost power, and the smell was bad like i am burning plastic or something, the CEL light came on and started to blink and after i pulled over it stopped blinking but stayed on, so i checked the codes and it is giving me P0661, but isn't that the censor for oxygen regulator? I recently put on an AEM cold air intake and thought that was the reason for the CEL code, so has this happened to anyone else? Could it be that censor could be messing up my loss of power? I'm asking because i dont think i will replace it if the AEM intake is doing this, because it would be pointless if i cant fix the issue of having this on, but whats even more funny is the car ran fine after i put it on, i let my buddy ride it and he was revving it up and he said he heard a loud bang other from what we would normally hear, but i didnt see any issues until two weeks later. Let me know gentlemen, thank you.
Also admins if i put this is the wrong place please forgive me, and yes i did read a ton of threads but i still feel unclear on whats wrong, because they had similar issues that i said but never smoke or loss of power after revving up to high RPMs.

Aem should not cause a cel. Flashing cel is always a misfire. It could be a few things bad couls/plugs/wires and bad o2 sensor would be pretty high on the list.
0661 should not have anything to do with the aem or missfire.

Did you look under the car to see if you caught a plastic bag on your exhaust?
Could be a coincidence with your misfire issue.
Also, misfires cause cats to fail & get extremely hot, check your heatshield & carpet.

I'm still waiting on answers. :0

Dealerships almost never pull a cat. They just pull codes. A code wont tell them if its plugged. Itll pop a code once it guts itself. By that time your engine will probably be gone.

Plugs wires coils. I only recommend Mazda oem plugs and the 09+ R3 updated coils. For wires I like NGK oem replacement. Pull the cat off and look inside with a flashlight to see if the element is melted. The stock cats have a relatively high failure rate. A lot of this can be contributed to people driving these cars out of tune. I like the go with a Magnaflow hi-flow cat. It frees up a few hp and helps get heat out of the engine.

You could also be sucking in oil from the intake. Did you recently change your oil or add oil? At high rpm it could be sucking oil into the motor if its overfilled, hence the hesitation and smoke. This does happen, I would know...

Sorry it took so long to get back, im in college and working lol anyways yes, it was way to much oil, i pulled the dip stick and it had a quart more than needed, i just turned the car on and wasted gas until it stopped smoking, from now on i will be doing my own oil changes, however the code i got turned into two other codes, i am currently reading a thread and getting answers off that one now and i have found a way better search tool from that thread, im getting so much info,
