first time flood

stupid me moved the car about 10 feet yesterday and then today she won't start...
i went to turn her on to go to work and crank as normal and it gets to where it owuld normally start and then just stopped...

tried mazda procedure and Alfy's from https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-deflooding-average-joe-plumber-182410/

and still not starting

if for some odd reason I needed to get the car towed to a dealership, how the **** much are they going to charge to deflood it in some magically manner that I can't?

You could try to remove the spark plugs and crank the engine (after disconnecting the esps), then let it dry and reinstall the plugs.
The problem with the automatics is that it is useless to tow them so i guess that's the best you can do before going the stealership route.

I would recommend pull starting it. I just flooded mine not long ago, and pull starting it worked like a dream, as nothing else was working for me

you cant pull start an automatic. do the 06s still have the ports on the lim? i flooded mine once after it sat for the winter, i followed a thread where you use the washer fluid pump. ya just disconnect it and put a hose on the nipples one at a time. im not sure but i thought i read the 06+ doesnt have these ports

even with trying to jump it, it wouldn't start after sitting for like 6 hours.

Flooding seems to have a direct correlation to worn plugs and coils. When I changed those, problems when away. As a test, I have done the 15 second run from cold several times, all without issue. It stinks like a pig (horribly rich for a few seconds) but starts. Unless combustion chamber is filled with gas, I would assume it would work. Can drain CC by pulling a plug from each rotor and cranking motor, next time....

04Green, it can also be a compression problem.

what I find really odd is that the guy said if it needed a new engine under warranty that Mazda does not supply a rental... that just sucks....

I can only hope it doesn't need a new engine and/or I can fix my MR2 this weekend and not need a rental car at all.

Yes, you only get a rental under the original warranty. The 2 extended warranties do not provide for one.

This happened to me about a month after buying the car and it cost me 415 dollars to deflood and replace the spark plugs but my insurance picked up the towing.

I got the towing free from MAzda under warranty. My plugs wer ejust changed and the guy on the phone said they were also covered under warranty which is news to me...

Unless the new plugs I put in there are 100% toasted, I am not paying them for new ones.

Guy on the phone made it sound like it is all covered under warranty.

So I don't have to pay anything...

they de-flooded it, they are doing a engine clean, compression test, and changing out the spark plugs all for free....

they gave me a nissan sentra......bleh. Soooooo strange to drive...
