Question Flooded?

04 6 speed, full exhaust, wanted to change it back to stock, slow process due to lack of time, took nearly 2 weeks. So the car sat on jacks for that long. Went to crank the car, and nothing, the motor turns but dosnt even slightly fire. (symptoms of flooding) Now, I always let the motor run a good 5 mins before I even shut it off.

*before starting the car back up after I had changed the exhaust back out, I had reset the ECU for a good 24 hours for fuel trim purposes*

I also changed out my ignition coils afterwords, ( I was going to anyway but decided to do it now to see if any changes would occur) Same issues.

I pulled the fuel pump fuse, and even held the gas to the floor for choke (fuel cut)
(battery charger was on the entire time) *plenty of juice* after turning it over for about 45 secs I put the fuse back in and also let off the gas pedal. Still nothing.

You can still smell gas from the exhaust.

Do I need to let it spin for a longer time before resupplying fuel? Or should I pull the plugs, clean them good, and while the plugs are out let the excess fuel spray out, ofcourse with the fuel pump fuse out????

(has new plugs as well)

Also the car ran decently well before parking it in my garage...(if anyone read I was having spitting issue at high rpms, before I parked it)

Just a second word from someone else would be nice. Thanx.

*I use to pinch the fuel line and take plugs out of my turbo FC to deflood*

*****also, I had gotten to think about it, and I was thinking, sense the plugs are on the driver side of the motor, and I had it jacked up on the passenger side, do you think the fuel and oil settled on my plugs for 2 weeks?***** intresting...

definitely possible that your plugs got fouled. Are they wet?
Is it still on stands? The best way to fire it up after flooding is push start it

I would recheck your coils and spark plugs wires too.

wires are RB and only have about 5k miles, plugs are new, have maybe 100 miles on them, coils are new with 0 miles.

I havnt checked my plugs yet, but im sure i needa clean them and do a deflood that way, by blowing out the gas through my plug holes..

Okay, so i cleaned my plugs well today, they were soaked with thick oil and gas.

while my plugs were out, I pulled the fuel pump fuse and cranked the motor for about a total of 1 min off and on.

I put everything back together, and it still wont even fire any.

Any ideas? Or is push starting the only thing anyone can come up with?

did you check to see if your plugs were securely fitted? Make sure that they make a 'click'

just because you cleaned your plugs, doesn't meant that they're actually clean. I would try push starting

yeah, plugs are snug, wires are snug, coils are snug. exhaust is snug, no vacuum leaks, everything checks out...I think ill have to try the push start method lol...my roads aren't the best place to be doing it either, but it doesn't hurt to try.

But if anyone was curious, I used gas and a wire brush, along with a rag and a small flathead screwdriver to clean them.

Does your starter sound like it is cranking out a pretty good amount of rotation? Could it possibly be a problem with the starter? If the plugs coils and wires are all pretty much brand new and in good shape then there aren't too many other parts in the ignition system itself.... Did you ever figure out what was causing the sputtering before you parked it? Because knowing what that was could possibly help figure out the problem...

Not for certain about the spitting, but along with everyone else I talked to, everyone including myself were turning to my coils, but it was too late by letting it sit for too long and letting it flood.

The starter is in great shape, so is the fuel pump and injectors.

Pulled the fuel pump fuse, cranked for 4-5 secs, waited about 8-10 secs, and repeated that for about a minute, waited for about 5 mins, repeated it again for another min, waited 5 more mins, put the fuse back in, with the pedal to the floor this time to choke it, then as your car wants to start slowly back off the throttle untill you feel the right amount of fuel is being supplyed. Presto! unflooded.

My car is still spitting in top end too, new coils, plugs and RB wires...and I have a slight rough idle..

Okay so the next project, I've yet to change my air filter out, so I'm going to do that, clean my MAF and run some injector cleaner through it. I'm gonna see how it wants to act with that being done.

Afterwords I think I might seafoam it.
