If it is leaking, it is depressurized.
If you immediately disconnect one of the fuel quick-disconnects after shutting off the car, a small amount of fuel will squirt by. After about 15-30 min, the pressure dissipates and this does not happen. Really not an issue.

Ok so i don't know if this is a similar problem but I was out with some friends and was about to follow them to huddles (pancake house) and when I make a turn on a road, I gunned it and I notice I wasn't accelerating and the rpm was not moving pass 4k and it died on me... So I pulled over to the side of the road and I smelled a gas fuel idk what it was but it was strong. So my friend came back to help me push the car in to the parking lot and we notice there was a leak and I'm pretty sure the smell is probably from that. Do you guys think it's the fuel line or something?
MT 04 gt 85,000 miles I couldn't tell where it was leaking from but I'm heading back out there tommorrow after work to see where it's coming from

IF you have a gas leak and all you can come up with is "the fuel line or something" then we can't be of much help.
You need to start investigating where the fuel was comming from. Is your gas tank empty. Is your fuel pump still running. Are the fuel lines on the engine in tact.
More investigative work would help out a lot, or solve the problem for you.
You also revived a bit of an old thread lol.

Yea I found out what's the problem now it's a fuel line.. It got disconnected but when tried to put the lines together it won't lock in place so I probably going to need to buy a new fuel line but for now it's running

So I ordered the fuel line with the red clip by the dipstick and the blue clip, is there a diy on how to remove/install it? Can't seem to find it in the search bar or google. And if there is none can someone make one please

Ok well I tried to pull the quick release connecter and oil
Came out (scared the **** out of me) and now there's one more connecter to remove so I can replace but it's locate somewhere under the air hose/ air cleaner. Is there any other way to get to it?

The same thing just happened to me. It's leaking in the same place. At the coupling between the fuel pump and the hose. I'm waiting for the system to depressurize now so I can take of the hose and see what's what. If I need to replace the line, does anyone know where the other end goes. I can't see the end from the access panel. If it's the pump, it looks like I can get to it all from the access panel. Also, for the life of me I can't find anywhere in the fsm that mentions the fuel system. Does anyone know what section it's in? Thanks.
edit: I found the fuel system in the fsm. It's in the engine details section.

Well, I just took the hose off and I guess it's coming from the hose since I can't see any cracks in the plastic nipple. The gas slowly drips off the end of the quick disconect. Anybody have any ideas on how to be sure? I'm parking this thing until I get this fixed.
Is this the hose? http://onlinemazdaparts.com/partloca...layCatalogid=0

Just a neat trick. Before you pull the fuel line run the vehicle with the fuel pump fuse pulled. It will depressurize the system for you because fuel wont run without the fuel pump running so you will pull the fuel from the lines.

Thanks, I would have, but I knew there was a leak that would do it for me and after about 15 minutes of working inside a car with black interior in the sun in 95 degree heat, I needed a break anyway. I think I'll attach the dripping line long enough to drive into some shade.

I rumaged around and found that I did indeed have some fuel line hose and some extra hose clamps, so I made up a little hose dead end with a bolt at the end. The leak is definitely from the fuel pump nipple. When I turn the ignition on it squirts out from the underside of the nipple before the ridge. Since the leak is before the hose seal, I'll assume the hose is still good and just replace the fuel pump. It looks like it's leaking exactly where the original poster's was. Is this a common thing? Is it just coincidence that two pumps failed in exactly the same place?

My leaking fuel line
i guess it takes 2 days to figure out a temporary fix now, because while i was driving home from ordering my new fuel pump from work, i thought maybe i could take a piece of rubber fuel line and hose clamp it around the nipple where its leaking and it might be a temporary fix so i can drive to work while i wait on my new pump. so i just got home and did it and amazingly it doesnt leak now. heres a pic of what i ended up doing to the fuel line and the nipple to get it to temporarily stop leaking
i had to slice one side open to wrap the hose around where it was leaking because it wouldnt stretch over the rib on the nipple, so i used the hose clamp and really torqued it down on the hose and no more leaks.

How did you get off the stock fuel line fitting from the fuel pump? How to take off that green clamp?

I already bought a new assembly. Basically the clip on the end of the fuel line broke off. I want to just attach a high pressure hose to secure it to the fuel pump nipple.. I just need the size of the fuel line so I can buy the proper size high pressure line
