Fuel sensor/gauge issue?? Please help!
So when i fill up to a full tank of gas and drive it around, by the end of the day it already shows that i have wasted a quarter tank. The next morning when i turn the car back on it shows that i have only used an 1/8 of a tank. After a few days of going back and forth between how much gas is in my tank, i end up at having only 1/4 of a tank left. I keep driving and driving and it still says i have a 1/4 tank left, then next thing you know, i stall because i am out of gas (the reason i know that it is because i was out of gas because as soon as i put in some gas it started right up and i went to the gas station). So apparently it doesn't give me the right amount of gas i have in my gas tank and neither does it let me know when i am starting to run on empty. What could be the problem?? Should i replace my fuel pump because that's where the sensor is? Or could it be the stock gas gauge?
Also for reference, when i got the car back from the shop a while ago, the big tube leading to the gas tank (all underneath the car) was disconnected. I barely got it on because it was a tight squeeze but maybe it isn't on far enough and there's air leaking or something so that the pressure can't be measured correctly?? I just dunno anymore..

Just had the same problem yesterday - had to tow the car and then the shop removed the fuel pump but couldn't find any fault - looked in the tank - EMPTY!!!
Put $20 fuel in and away she goes....
Any clues on this yet??
