Grounding Kit Recommendations?

Hello,

I've read alot of threads on here about installing a grounding kit to solve rough idle issues etc but haven't seen any links on what kits to use. Can anyone recommend me a good grounding kit to buy for my RX8 or should I just buy the cheapest thing I can find on ebay like the one below:

Universal 5 Point HKS Grounding Kit Earth Ground Wire Cable Performance JDM | eBay

Thanks
Chris

I got the one from Z enterprises. All grounding kits do the same thing just even out the idle. Not a huge difference. After I installed it I realized when turning on the a/c the idles dont dip anymore they stay set. You can even make your own kit out of 4ga speaker wire and ring connectors.

I paid an extra $15, supplied them the required lengths, color, and ends... and they included two additional wires for me.

One went between the TB and drivers side body grounding point. The other went from the engine grounding point on the LIM to the same passenger side grounding point that the kit daisy chains to from the body ground near the ECU box.

if you get one I recommend getting one with condensers on it.

A different option is just get a half dozen stainless steel star wafflers and put one under each ground. Most of the ground locations on mine were painted and counting on the boot threads to make the connection. If you buy one, make sure the connections are well crimped.

Voltage Stabilzers (at least the ones you'd find on ebay) are highly overrated. I ran one for a couple years and it made zero difference... ended up being a silly little box with a blinking light... great for office art but not much else.

Do you know the locations for all the stock grounding points? I don't know much about cars so not really sure where I should be looking.

Let me see if I can remember, if not, there is a list in the $100 thread in my signature...

driver fender about 18 inches from firewall,
pass fender, a little closer to the fire wall,
somewhere on the alternator,
under the air box, driver side, top of engine, under throttle body, forward of oil filter (hardest one to get to)
under intake manifold pass side, middle of engine (get to this one from the front corner of the car, I do not think you can see it from the side.

Let me know how it all works out.

I made my own. Went all out with high end 4/0 power wire with high heat shield, all gold plated terminals, and some distribution blocks.
I found a DIY on here somewhere that somebody posted of own setup, and compared with other kits and all the common ground points they were routed to.
I recall there were two main routes the kits took...
The "spider" looking route that just branches out from the (-) terminal to the various ground locations..
And the "circle" type of route, where the battery ground to the chassis under the airbox is upgraded. Then in a series, the upgraded wire goes from point to point around the engine bay branching off in a couple spots like the alt. and comes back to the same point under the airbox by the battery.

I went the the circle earthing route, made all of my own connections clean and tight and made sure the surface connections were paint+primer free. The end result was clear as day. Smoother idle, smoother starting, and the interior lights stopped dimming everytime I flexed the subs.
I put a shot of corrosion preventer on each connection and they've stayed clean since day one.

I can say though, there are a lot of mixed results... I'm guessing the cars built on Fridays and Mondays got the crappy stock grounds...
