hand brake failure?

hand brake failure?
I experienced a hand brake failure today afternoon with my RX-8.
I parked my car on a pretty steep inclined ground; it was not so steep, I would say about 45 degrees.
However, after couple hours, I found my car rolled down of the place. It rolled about the half length of the car.
I did not put my gear into 1st gear, but just used my hand brake.
I have parked in that specific place many times and this is first time my car rolled down the place.
Has anyone epxerienced similar situation?
Any answer to this problem?
Thank you

Weird...
By a deep socket 10mm(I think it's 10..) ratchet head, open your center console, pop the little plastic bit out, get that rachet head over the little nut, tighten.
That might help... Although I doubt it.

^ I was going to suggest that, as well; but inspect the rear brake system and pads.
