CT Headlight question

Had some work done on my car after some a$$hole hit and ran on my car, nothing serious though. Some time has went by since I got it back from the shop and now I noticed the inner bulb part of the headlight is not looking so good. I guess the car has frosted glass over the bulb or whatever you call it but on the driver's side (which is the side where the damage was) the frost on that glass is basically coming off and you can clearly see the bulb and the bulb must not be seated perfect and is slightly melting the plastic around it. I will post some pics of it tomorrow so you can better see what I am talking about. My question is can the clear shield be taken off to be able to access that area or does the entire light assembly need to be taken out? I am also going to see if it's something the shop did faulty and if so they will be fixing it. Here is a pic of the location is question.

What on earth is that little light called? I -just- got my 8 a week ago and noticed that light was out today. I can't find what it's called to order the replacement.

It is called the parking light. The bulb itself can be taken out without taking off the entire headlight unit, but it is a bitch to do none the less. If you need to access the lens of the parking light, you would need to take out the whole unit and remove the whole out side lens cover.

Take the headlight unit out and look into the parking light from the rear after taking out the bulb. See if you can some how poke at it to make things fit better without removing the outside lens cover.

I guess the lens over the parking bulb is naturally frosted looking but on mine it seems the frost coating is deteriorating for some reason and the bulb itself is not centered properly and is melting the plastic around it. I will post a pic of it as soon as I get home.

Doing some searching on these forums I found a thread on how to remove the main headlight lens cover which involves using a heat gun to loosen the glue holdin it on. Is this true? The car in that thread was a 2nd gen but I'm assuming it is the same process?

Can the parking light lense be bought without buying the entire assembly?
