Turns out RIWWP and 9k were right

I haven't been burning excessive amounts of oil and my normal redline returned, sans smoke.

I guess it was just the thrashing I gave her... Hmmm ill have to be more careful in the future.

Thanks to everyone for their input and advice.

Old Thread Revival

I don't want to start a new thread when this one will do, and the OP resolved his problem.
I had a similar issue, and hope this update can be useful, and welcome any responses.

I would like to go into some detail as this could be helpful for someone else, and if anything else should occur, I'll have it down while it's still fresh in my mind.

Possibly TL/DR.

I had the blue smoke and oil in the intake after adding a quart of oil instead of the usual half.
Dipstick read on the lower half, so this Dipstick added a whole quart.
I also neglected to doublecheck the level afterwards.

Anyway, either the next day, or day after that, Friday on the drive home, I got stuck idling in a traffic jam for at least 40 minutes.

When I finally got past the wreck that caused it, I immediately floored it to get around some slow 18 wheelers.
When I got it up to redline (about 60-70, 4th or 5th gear, not sure), I saw the cloud of blue smoke in my mirror.
I let up and it went away.
It ran ok, but seemed a little sluggish.

It scared me at first, I thought I blew my engine, so I drove it like a normal sane person after that.
When I got home, I checked under the hood with the engine running, nothing apparent, no leaks or smoke or weird noises.
No misfires, CELS, or abnormal gauge readings.
Torque OBD check was clean.
So I shut it off, and waited for it to cool down a bit.

Checked the oil, it was over the flat part of the stick, I had overfilled it.
Pulled the MAF sensor, it was wet with oil.

I had been meaning to tune it up, with the parts on hand.
First, I checked the air filter, it had oil on it and the box had oil in it too.
Pulled the box off the intake (stock accordion) tube, it had oil in it also.

So, I took it all apart, cleaned everything and dried them off.
Unbolted and cleaned inside the valve and behind it.
I pulled the plugs, they were dry, so I thought that was a good sign.

Replaced plugs, wires, coils, air filter, cleaned the MAF, and put it all back together.
Drained the extra quart I put in it, Mobil1 0W-40, $10 wasted.

It was dark by then, but I went test drive it on the interstate and some backroads, it ran great, couldn't see any obvious smoke.
Drove my 20 mile commute this morning in the dark, and drove it normally on the way home with a bit of enthusiasm, and some high RPM, but didn't redline it.
Everything checked out.

So, after reading many threads about this issue, and fearing the possibility of bad oil seals, I am fairly confident it was a perfect storm of overfilling the oil, sitting in traffic while the vacuum pulled excess oil into my intake, then sudden acceleration leading to a substantial amount of oil being sucked in and burned off in the engine.

'04, 6 speed, second owner bought almost 4 years ago with less than 19k miles.
53k now, well maintained, catless, and still runs great.

So, I think it will be fine.
I think I won't drive too aggressively until I install a catch can.

Any feedback is welcome.
