^Swoope you know my situation... we've discussed it... I still have not gotten my car fixed because I'm so confused about what's what! I read these threads and wonder why these issues similar if not the same as mine are covered and my dealership keeps telling me NO!

They found out that 1 of my Coils is bad and that with the new Extended Warranty it only covers 1 bad part. So in other words... It only covers the 1 Coil but I have to account for the other 3 if I want them replaced and plugs, etc....

I'm beginning to think it depends on the dealer.... Why is that, I wonder? If it's Mazda USA and they're the ones out of pocket (per say)....what does it matter to these dealers?? I don't get it, at all!!!

Hey bud,

I wasn't getting the Check Engine Light either when the car would die at low rev, i thought that was strange, it also drove fine for the first few minutes of driving it but after like 20 min it would act up and die. After they changed the spark plugs and did the "Zoom cleaning" it seems to have fixed the dieing part.

But I drove it enough to use almost a full tank of gas last week and 2 days ago the CEL came on for the first time. It didnt seems to act up, drove it from home to work for 2 days and then took it to dealership, I didnt want to take the chance to damage anything else even tho it seemed to drive fine.

What really made me mad is dealership saying it wasnt covered underwarranty and I had to battle with them for a week to finaly get them to double check and realize that it was covered. Wonder how often im gonna get the run around like that from them.

After a tank and a half of gas spent since I picked it up from dealership last, the car died on me when i came to a stop and it wouldnt start again. I had to wait an hour before i could get it going good enough to drive it to the dealership, so its back in the shop

They say they drove it around and its running fine now, they cant find the problem to it lol /sigh

Well they didnt know what to do anymore, they contacted Mazda and Mazda told them to replace the engine... so im waiting a week or 2 for the replacement to come in.

Thought I would pass on this information because it worked for me. I had to search and search this rx-8 website, but I finally did find my answer, and I owe it all to ya'll! Thank you. I had to have my battery replaced and the terminals. After that the car ran great for about 30 minutes on the highway, then when I would come to a stop it would die and would not start for about an hour. Mechanics were stumped. Then I found a post here where they described that after you replace your battery you have to reset the fuel trim. So I turned my key on, opened the car door, and pumped my brakes 20 times. Believe it or not, that fixed it.
