HELP, My MT 8 revs like an AT in low rpm!!!
Hi, my 8 starts to rev like an AT car under 5000rpm. For instance, if I push down the gas pedal from halfway to the bottom end instantly in the 3 gear, it first revs up very fast and suddenly dropps a little (about 500rpm), and then it goes up again.
With higher rpm, it runs fine.
I have the oil change regularly.
What might be the cause/problem?
Thanks for the help guys!!!

Search is your friend.
You have insufficient information, how the hell are we suppose to help you with only a vague description?!
Miles?
Year?
Last tune-up?
Anyways, since I'm in a good mood, I'll tell you a little secret.
Check your coil packs, plug wires, and spark plugs.

Hi, it's a 2004 rx8 GT, 90000km (56000miles), last dealer maintenance December 2008, replaced air filter, battery and water pump
I searched coil problems in the forum but I'm not sure if that causes the problem.

The coil packs are usually the culprit, if not then check your plug wires.
The problem only occurs in third gear or all the gears? If so, how would you describe it exactly?
Is it because you shift too early or when you are in third gear, or it occurs when you press down on the clutch, and the RPM's bog down to 500?
OR, are you saying that you are driving in third gear, the RPM's are climbing then drops by 500 RPM's at a certain point?
If that's the case then it can be coils or plugs, it can also be a stuck valve in your intake manifold. Did the car felt like it's gasping for air?
