Help needed..
Hi all
I am very new to this rx8 club , so new infact i dont actually know how to start my own thread!!!
im hoping someone on her can help me to do that aswell... anyway..
the dreaded day has come i have had my rx8 for 5 months and last week the engine wouldnt start..
i took it to a mazda dealership who done two tests,, a diagnostic and the low compression test,, which actually cost me 185:00 sterling english pounds!! as i live in the uk
anyway the results from the test are as follows..
mileage 51797
cars is flooded, found leads not sitting tightly also front rotor plug cracked,( this plug is now on rear) this car must have been misfiring and overfuelling,
cat melted internally with bits in the exhaust system, advised new cat and exhaust system , new plugs, ht leads and coils once runnung..
compression test front 3.4, 3.9, 3.8 rear 3.8, 4.2, 4.2
mazda state anything below 5.0 requires a new engine
so all in all i need an engine rebuild, new cat and possibly a new exhaust system
if you have seen my photo album of the car you can understand why it would kill me to scrap this car.. plus i bought it 5 months ago from a car dealership not a mazda dealership for 2650 which i though was a bargain!!
with me having no knowledge of rotary engines and how to maintain them i feel the fault was partly mine and also partly the previous owner (whoever that is)
the question i ask is,, if i get this rebuilt and the knowledge i have now to look after and maintain the car.. could this happen again two years or more down the line..
p.s all my friends are saying dont do it and get a totally different car,, but in the 5 months i have had the car i absolutley adore her,, plus i got her new shoes, tints an added to the bose system with my own bass box in the boot, and i feel i havent had her long enough to disown and hand her to the scrapyard.. any advise would be much appreciated
thanks

Bargain? Whoever believes that deserves whatever consequences they face down the road.
I never believe in bargain, i just believe in u get what u paid for
maybe u can buy me plane ticket and get me the tools i will fly over and fix it for u(u pay for parts too) lol
Lessons learned, never believe in "bargain"

Now take the other $4k you didn't spend on a good car, and buy a replacement engine. If everything else is in good shape (and the simple fact that you didn't even have the car looked at before you bought it means that the rest of the car is probably in the same sorry shape that the engine is currently in), then you will have a properly running RX-8.
Why in the world did you move a broken spark plug from the front rotor and place it on the rear rotor? Throw it out, and install new spark plugs!
You're the only one to blame for the condition the car is currently in.
Once you bought the car, and drove it for 5 months before paying any attention to maintenance items that the car needed, you took any blame from the previous owner's shoulders, and placed it completely on yours.
BC.
