Help!..... please check engine light is on p0240
So a few days ago my check engine light came on, i was in desperate need a of an oil change so thats what i thought it could be but i was wrong i got my oil change and the light didn't go off i took it to one of our local shops and we ran the odbII on it and p0420 came up, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold ive done some reasearching and i think its my cat that has gone bad my car only has 20,000 mil on it so that is what is confusing me so i have multiple questions.
1. Will i be covered under mazda warrenty with my injen intake on?
2. what caused this?
3. could it be something else?

Fair enough... I can understand you doing this unknowingly due to computer problems.
How about this... delete two of your threads and keep the other one I posted in and we'll forget all about this

I said (in the other thread) that the dealer *should* cover it under warranty.
BUT... some dealers will try to escape covering the cat under warranty and try to blame anything (including your aftermarket intake).
My dealer never gave me problems with it, but you never know until you try.
I say go for it... but if you are worried, put the OEM intake in (if you still have it).
If you search this site for P0420 (I assume thats what you meant even though the title says P0240), you'll see that the common thing to replace is the cat, so that is where you should focus.
