HELP! wont start

i couldnt catch a gear on thu so i just rebuilt the slave cylinder, but when i went to test it out the car now wont start. cant think of a single way theyd be related, but im stumped. the starter just goes and goes, the engine is turning and i have spark but it wont turn over. i tried starter fluid to make sure it wasnt fuel and it wont do anything (first sprayed it in my air damm, then in the maf hole.) anybody have any suggestions?!?

Yeah.......it's flooded. Better start searching on how to deflood.
Various methods, but.....oh what the hell..........since you are a manual tranny. Pull start it!
18mph in 2nd, let clutch out, when it starts go to nuetral but don't let it stall out.
Once warmed up, go for a good long spirited drive!

FYI, you're making it worse by dumping more fuel in it!

Who knows.....maybe your battery was getting weak and has sat too long while doing Slave.......maybe you shut it off cold? One way to find out for sure.

ok, so the factory method of deflooding (holding gas 7s, then starting normally) didnt work. do you have any recommended deflooding procedures?

Follow Mazurfer and Dannobre's suggestion, have somebody push the car while you start it!

^..................don't know what else to say. It was night and dark(of course) in Ohio at the time, but hopefully now that it's daylight, they will find someone to help.
Yeah....we could list the various time intensive de-flood procedures, but pull starting is the way to go.

Actually, I think I will write up "my" de-flood procedure and save it as a text file, so I can just cut and past from now on..............but as we all know.............what works for one, doesn't always work for another.

its also snowy, i dont know that we could push a car up to 18mph!

how do you recommend pull starting it? just hook up a tow chain to the hook inside the front grill and go? im worried that when i drop the clutch my cars gonna stop and the other car wont be in sync so itll do some damage. i almost feel like pushing it with another car would be better?

Put the front tow hook in it.....

You will have to be a bit careful that the tow vehicle has decent traction...but once you are moving the pull from turning over the car won't be enough to pull out the rear of the tow car unless the rear tires are really bad

You don't have to be going that fast......if the motor is going over 500rpm's it should seal enough to get compression and start......so use first or second gear and let the clutch out carefully to keep the shock to the tow vehicle to a minimum

It might be helpful to list in detail how you pulled started it.

Did you put in the tie-down hook?
What kind of tow vehicle?
How long of a tow strap?
What gear / MPH?
Did it catch easy?
What did you and the tow vehicle do after the 8 started?
Does it restart on it's own now?

Get the idea?

I wanna know what lead to the flood in the first place.

Was it anything I had suspected above which was.................

Maybe your battery was getting weak and has sat too long while doing Slave.......maybe you shut it off cold?

Need to figure out why because if it's old coils or bad plugs, it's gonna happen again in short order.

used a 10' tow rope and an '05 legacy with the tie-down hook. got it up to 20ish mph and tried to start it in 2nd with the clutch in. as i was cranking i let up on the clutch. the first time it just cut out, like it would if you tried to start the car without pressing the clutch down. the second time it caught, super smooth. so smooth in fact that i didnt even notice it had started, it wasnt until we went to make the next turn and slowed down that i could tell the engine was running. my car usually takes a few seconds to start and you can definitely feel it, but not this time. after starting it took it on a 10min or so drive to clear things out, once it warmed up i took the revs up, and before turning it off i took it up to redline a few times while out of gear.

you know, i think i must have stopped it cold. when i moved it to put it on ramps i reved it to 3k for 10s, but the car wasnt at all warm. i dont do it often, but if i need to make a quick move thats always worked in the past but this time i guess it wasnt enough. i dont know if the front end being up for a few hours right after that maybe helped? i had it on a battery charger, so while the battery was a bit sapped from all the starting attempts it was being charged as well.

Hmmmmm..............I got nuttin.........hope it doesn't happen again though!
Obviously the colder temp it is outside the more susceptible it may be, but who really knows??????
Hard to imagine the ramps could have played some role.....but again, I got nuttin.
