Here is my issue, can anyone help.

OK, where do i start....

So about a month ago I had a misfire issue on rotor 1 and a code stating my motor was running too lean. It happened while driving, the car sounded weird, lots of vibration, white powdery substance in exhaust pipes, and smoke out of engine bay. stopped car and called for a tow, and took it to mazda. Engine light was flashing.

They replaced the front coils. Ran well for 3 weeks.

Driving on the highway and the engine light comes on solid, got home checked OBD scanner and I got P0302 (Rotor 2 Misfire) ok, so drive to dealer and they change the 2nd rotor coils.

2 days later, I push the car a bit, 7krpm shifting and it comes on flashing for 5-10 seconds and then shuts off. Same day (at night) it did the same thing again. Then next day i try it again but with the scanner plugged in to catch the code. It flashed for 5-10 seconds, then it became solid.

Code again was P0302. I dont know what to do. The spark plugs were changes a few months ago before the misfire. Can somebody help me. I love this car so much, but now this issue is leading me into getting rid of it.

So I was at the dealership today getting my front right upper control arm ball joing replaced, and I asked them to do the compression test. The have seen how much money I have spent on the car in the past few weeks, so they are going to do the compression test free of charge on Wednesday morning. But still if anyone can stll help me out on some ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

If the compression is good..and the plugs and coils are OK..next thing I would look at is the ES sensor...check to see if it has a bit of metal crap stuck to it...and maybe swap it out if you can get another one to test....

From there...could be wiring, ECU..lots of stuff....start with the top of the flow chart in the FSM and check everything

I told them that during the first misfire. So the cat is the issue? or would I have to wait for the cat light to come on???
