Hot start issue - 2004 RX8 (UK Owner)
Hi all,
This is my first post so please be patient with me
I know a little about RX-8's and the correct starting procedures but I appear to have a problem with hot starts. Basically, if I go to the gas station and fill-up the car takes a couple of 10 second cranks to get the car to fire.
Is there anything I need to be doing differently on my hot start procedure - or is it something a more sinister?
The car has done 70k miles and is the 2004 model.
after reading other articles, it is possible that the engine has a low compression issue. The car had a full service at 69k miles and had the coils, sparks, and leads replaced (not by myself but the previous owner - via a mazda dealer)
Any advice would be gratefully received and anything that I can check would be appreciated.
Paul

Do a compression test!
Given your mileage there's a remote chance that it's the fuel pump as well.
Generally hot start issues are caused by poor compression and\or a clogged catalytic converter. Worn out ignition components don't ignite the fuel as they should, that's why the cat dies. There's another possibility
To inspect the cat just take it off and take a look. Shake it if it looks good as there are 2 sections inside and you may have damaged the rear one.
