AEM has it’s own issues too, not really a fan myself. The SR is an ok intake performance wise, but the housing is a bit heavy and prone to heat soaking. I had my own lightweight version that pulled 220 rwhp on the Cobb dyno. Sounds to me like you either have a bad accordion tube or bad clamps. It was fine until you messed with it, so go figure ...

And I mean, it's an old piece of rubber, so things can get brittle and plastic over the years.

AEM/MS has too many joints and restrictions. Seen the air screen mess up plenty in them if not perfectly installed. The fact that it actually needs one to have a halfway decent idle says plenty imo.
still have my original accordion and it’s fine, he even has less years and miles on his than I do. I did put better aftermarket clamps on both ends quite a few years ago. My solution to getting rid of it for the current makeover was to modify the UIM ...

Yes ive addressed everything ive "messed" with and tried trouble shooting from the standpoint of what ive touched, just seems like it might have been a unfortunate coincidence as to something else malfunctioning at the same time i happened to start touching things :P
