How do you make people leave your car alone?

Discovered this vandalism today. Sickening. It makes me really not like people. Looks as though someone decided to do a hood slide across the hood. They creased both fenders and scratched the hood along with both fenders. Sorry for th picture quality it's dark outside.

I'm also ashamed of how dirty the car is, but today has really been the first reprive we have had in a week from the storms.

not much can be done, besides adding the shock sensor, or putting it in a garage..

I feel for ya, did you call the locals?

nah, going to take it by the insurance company Monday. We have full coverage but a $500 deductible. Looks like most will buff out, but both fenders are creased, dunno how hard/expensive that will be to fix.

Ouch, time to install a camera in your car and put a large sticker on the windshields noting this.

That sucks.. Some people just never learn to respect other peoples property. I am scared every time I have to park somewhere that I am going to come out and see my car has been keyed, had the window broken, or doored by some idiot.

Ouch. Sorry to see that. A car cover might help though.

My car was keyed about a week after I bought it. Not enough damage to turn it over to the insurance company but definatly enough to make me mad every time I see it.

I wish i could understand what compels people to do this stupid crap, but i cant. There was a guy on the Jetta forum i used be a member of, and he had his car broken into, and not only did they break in and steal his things, they trashed it. They busted his glove box to hell, his center armrest to hell, and whatever else that may have been a minor inconvenience to their crime. I cant believe that breaking into someones car and stealing their audio equipment, and other belongings just isn't enough.

Whenever i hear any kind of commotion out of the front of my place, i go out on my balcony armed with my 8 keys, ready with the panic button.

********. I'd be furious. If I really wanted to reduce the probability of someone messing with my car, I'd probably get a car cover - but I would dirty it up, maybe put a few rips in it, so it doesn't look like there's a nice car under there.

(And if you're wondering, a cover goes on and comes off in just a minute, once you get the knack down.)

Jealousy, that is why they do this stupid thing. They don't have a nice car like us, so they do this to make the owner get mad, that's my opinion about this. It's jealousy.

WHAMMY!!! LunchboxCritter... Sorry about your luck...... I feel your pain, last summer my friends Girl backed up into my ride. She hit it so hard the car was rolling down the driveway, paint is now starting to crack from the bumper being forced back. And on top of all this she said "who put that there?" Of course Very VERY Blonde

Perhaps when it is involved in a murder scene.

About 10 years ago I had a rental car broken into in LA, and a bunch of stuff (laptop and camera gear) stolen. After reporting on it at the local police station, they sent me over to HQ to get the car fingerprinted.

I am going to break down and wire an alarm into it, with proximity. It was coming with the system install already, but this bumped it up the priority list.

I've been contemplating a camera system triggered by the proximity sensor. If I do go that route a write-up will of course be in order. From tradgety comes triumph.

I've been around half a dozen cars that have been broken into (2 were mine, rest were friends and family) and never had the police fingerprint any of them. I wonder what makes them fingerprint some while not others?
