I'm screwed. please help.

so while i was moving i lost my spare key. no biggie the sell blanks on ebay right. well, i just lost my only key today along with my house key and my girlfriends apartment keys. i went out with her to help her pack up some stuff and we stopped at a few places. I lost them somewhere along the way. i have called and been back to every place we went to and checked the parking lots and everywhere i have been except one hardware store that was closed already. if they aren't there in the morning when i call then i am SOL.

what is the cheapest way to get a new key made and programmed? please, i am so broke right now waiting for my state paramedic exams and studying everyday i don't work so i haven't been able to work any overtime.

do i have to go to or call the dealer to order a new key and if so what is it going to cost me? i know it's going to be a bundle . . .

i have another vehicle that isn't running that great right now and i just spent the last few $$$ i have on new furniture a new tv and moving is surprisingly expensive to anyone who hasn't experienced it before.

Without a single key the dealer is your only option. Your also going to have to get the car towed to them, have AAA?Not only do they have to get the key codes to cut the blanks they need to program the key to your ECU something a locksmith cannot do. Since it will already be there you might as well get the 2nd key programed they might give you a break on that one. Once you have TWO working keys you can buy a blank off ebay and self program a third key. If you have to pay for the tow my guess is two dealer provided keys will cost $300-$400

not going to work. the keys need to be chipped (ie programmed) for the ecu.

Unfortunately, it wont be cheap and since this isn't something you can really do on your own, they know they can charge quite a bit. It might be a bit cheaper if you get the keys separately, but I'm pretty sure they'll charge at least a couple hundred to have them cut and coded.

I wonder what you would say if your engine blew It's only money you will make more, nobody was hurt, nothing is broken. Depending on your ability to smooze and your relationship with your dealer you might be able to work out some credit/discount. Offer to wash cars on the lot or vacuum the showroom for a few weeks. About the only other thing I can suggest, not sure if it can be done but you might be able to avoid the expensive of towing the car to dealer if you remove the ECU and bring it to them. I am not sure if that will work but you have nothing to lose by asking.

That response was mostly a joke, alittle seriouse. If this happened a month ago I would be fine but my dental insurance changed formats and what would have cost me $200 ended up costing me $1400 and I had to shell out $800 for state exams and test fees and also just filled my oil tank and bought new furniture and a new tv. So it hasd been a really expensive month. First last and security on a new place and what not. It is just seriously going to hurt the wallet at a time when $$$ isn't exactly coming that easy.
