Immobilised!
Hi all,
I hope someone can help me.
I have had a 2007 RX8 for 5 years and two days ago, my husband tried to start it and it didn't turn over at all.....completely dead. We thought it was the battery so we intended to get a battery charger to charge it up. Today, he unhooked one of the terminals to clean it and we then tried to start it it again and I noticed that the Security Indicator Light was flashing and then it stayed on. Still completely dead. This has never happened before so I don't really understand why this happened at all.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks in advance.

Moved to troubleshooting.
Can you describe the behavior of the rest of the electrical components in the car?
For example can you turn on the headlights without the key in and they are at full brightness? Can you turn the key to the On position and have all lights on the gauge cluster at full brightness and reacting correctly? Can you play the radio without problems?

Everything was on whilst the SIL was flashing away....all lights in the dash were on and everything seemed to be working. My husband has actually disconnected the battery and is charging it up and we are hopeful that when we reconnect, the car will reset itself and it will start. I have a sneaking suspicion that the spare key that started all the problems was faulty so we will use the usual key that operates the car day to day. Not sure if this will do the trick but it's worth a try.

Hey! Just wanted to let you know that the car started this morning. We had the battery charging overnight and used the regular key and it started first time. All we had to do was reset the DSC and the radio. When you think about it, it makes sense to disconnect the battery so that it all resets. Lucky my husband knows a bit about cars in general and thought to try that first.....the local dealership was ready to have me towed there and charge me god knows what to reset and recode everything!!
Cheers!
Cheers!
