Installed a new clutch and car wont start?
im working on my nephews 05' rx8 with 80k on it. he's a 19 yr old marine and and loaned the car to a buddy..... AND when he and i went and picked it up off of the side of the road the clutch was gone. so i had it towed to my house so i could replace it. once i had the tranny out i discovered a clutch (or lack there of) like i have never seen.the disc actually had NO material left on it even the rivets were burned off, of the disc. the actual starter gear on the flywheel had heated up to the point that the gear separated from the flywheel. We later found out the "friend" admitted to power breaking the car for a tremendously long time, for about 10-15 minutes steadily!!! ok that all said, i have replaced the clutch pack and flywheel.
Here is the problem(s) after having the car towed from NC to VA. i had the car on a lift and the interior light somehow was left on and killed the battery, so i put a charger on it. Now that the clutch is installed and the battery is back up to snuff, the car will not start!?!?!?
the car hasnt been started since the clutch was burnt out of it due to the starter/flywheel gear separating.
1. SO is there a safety in the vehicle to prevent starting when it is towed ?
2.Is there a type of thermal switch that would possibly need repair/reset/replacement ?
It does appear or at least smell like we are getting fuel, i have double checked and had another man double check to make sure i did not miss or neglect anything when i reinstalled the tranny so on this i am pretty confident its nothing i did or didnt do.
I know i have been long winded here but im hoping to lay everything out to get some help from one of you that is more familiar with this car.
THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!!! for any help

Does the car turn over? It could be flooded as you said the battery was dead an if someone tried to start it, it could have flooded.
The flywheel gear ring is welded onto the flywheel so if that separated that could also cause the car to not start as well, I had this problem in the past.
If you tried starting the car several times when the gear ring was separated that could have burned out the starter, which obviously would cause that problem as well.
You could check if it's the starter/flywheel if you can push start the car.

And if it's not any of that...
My recent clutch replacement also had a no-start afterwards, and it was because I apparently damaged the neutral switch wiring to the transmission, causing a short that would blow the ignition key fuse. Only disconnecting the neutral switch would allow it to start (and then 'idle hunt' once running). Same issue is possible with the reverse switch.
