Intake problems

Has anyone had problems with oil in the intake tube with a stock intake? I just hit 33,000 miles and my engine light has come on. When I started to check the car I found oil in my intake tube and filter. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is usually a result of overfilling the oil and the engine blowing it back into the airway. also check your oil coolers to make sure there are no leaks that can be drawn inside the airway.

oil in intake

i have 25,440 miles on my car and on one sprited drive to work the cel came on about 7,ooo rpms and was on for maybe 20 seconds or so when i got to work i checked everything out and found oil in the intake.i took off the tube cleaned out the excess and check the oil.it was not low or overfilled(i do my own changes)i told the dealer about this and they said that it's normal to get oil because of the design of the engine(sounds like crap but it's my first rotory)so what i found out was that the air filter(custom made )was pulling in way too much air on wot and i changed it to a smaller type which is a little quietier but cool!not as much oil and no more cel's at this time! :

there is more blow buy at high rpm then on a piston. lots of sustained high rpm can make it end up in the the intake track cause there is no pcv

I now have that same problem on my car... but it was not coming from the oil cooler lines. I installed an oil seperator between the hose comming from the filler and the intake...and on normal driving I don't have that oil problem but in the higher rpm " harder driving" it fills up and and drop the oil level on my dip stick to half very quick...I had to do this for I took my car to the dealer ship many times and they could not figure out where the oil was coming from...they blamed my intake, but i installed the factory intake system and the problem is the same, so I am leaving the factory in and take it back.

i would attached pictures, but not sure how to do that yet, if anyone wants to do that for me i can email you the pictures...

is this for stock or for aftermarket too? cause i know that the AEM and the MS CAI come with dry flow filters.... I always make sure that my oil is on the Full mark, never over....

Mazda totally changed the crankcase ventilation system in the 06 RX-8. The vent from the oil fill tube now goes tto the Vac ports on the intake manifold..and the TB end goes to the intake manifold near the oil filter.

There is also a new oil pan with a baffle to supposedly help this issue as well.

They replaced the Oil Pan on mine and it seems to have fixed the problem....I was surprised cause I didn't think it would work

I think they are going to be retrofitting cars that have a problem with the new breather??

Oh ****, I hope Mazda really retrofit instead of just making it a TSB which is non existant in my country.

There isn't much to it...a few feet of vac lines...a one way valve, and a step down adapter to go from the large tubing coming out of the oil tube to two smaller lines into the intake.

You could DIY if you saw a 2006...or I could probably get pictures of the system from a car at the dealership. Will be a couple of days though...going to the track for 2 days

I was thinking the SAME thing....

After we drove Spice Boy's car for about 10 minutes at high rpm ranges, that little glass was almost completely full of oil.

Ideas???

Lot of oil and then it drips onto your driveway.
That sucks!

I never did understand why they did the vent system the way they did.
Now just have to find an '06 to take pics of.

I never over fill, I never let the oil go past the top full indicator mark. on the dip stick.

It don't throw oil all the time. If I granni **** the car keeping the rpm low, it would not throw up any oil...and I can drive the car like that whole day no problem. But as soon as I decided to open up her a bit, that is when the oil comes up, esp when the car is hot it is worst.

The dealership could not find the problem, so I have to install the factoy intake, for the service guy told me they may have to call in mazda master tec, and he don't want any excuese from him about the aftermarket intake. which is bull for I had that intake on for about a 7 months now...

My biggest problem is, I have the factory intake but can't find that piece that connect between the throtle body and the intake system..ha ha..anyone of you happen to have one laying around.. I may have to go to one of those junk parts and see if there is a crashed RX8 there.

not sure where you are,

but if you have dealerships in the area, go to one that has a master tech working at the shop....

saves lots of time..... i have never been ? about intake or exhaust....

but have not had oil in intake.... all my issuse were researched and explained when i dropped the car off....

but if you are in a rural area, that sucks.... but i have to admit... i drive about and hour, past two dealer to get to mine....

I live in Vista california. I used to live in Apple Valley and I used to go to the dealership in riversideoff the 215, but somone I met on here in the san bernadino meet's told me to go to Romeros off the 15 freeway befor the 10 " that is if you are driving north on the 15. and they heighly recomended them, but the past couple visits I had, I am now wondering on what basis did they recomend them on.."may be it is how they washed their after the service"

What area do you live.... can you tell me where you go to?... I do love my car and have no intentions of gettting rid of it....thanks for all your input..
