Issues I can't find the answers to.

I have a 04 RX8 with ~90k Miles about 900 miles since last oil change. 5w20 Royal purple, and K&N oil filter. I been noticing a spring noise in the 7k rpm range when I floor it. It comes from the passanger side (It seems to me), but it's not like the MIAC. I've listened to videos, and heard it in person. Mine only does this when I am in gear (Any of the Gears) and pushing on it. It springs for about 1500rpms, and seems to lose frequency as the rpms go up, and kinda cut off. I have no clue what it could be.
Another thing I noticed that's kinda interlocked with that, is surges of power around 6500 to 7500 through the springing noise, but no CEL. It's not backfiring or misfiring. It feels like maybe starvation? Could this be a TB issue? I don't think it's a CAT problem it was recently changed, and I've ran it till it was hot, and it never glows. The new engine only has ~20k Miles? I am a new owner, but I did a lot of research before I bought it. I always make sure I warm up before I drive, and I cool down when I'm reaching my destination. If I'm making a short trip I'll sit in my car for 5 mins while the gauge climbs to position. I baby my car.. Lol. I am sad it's talking back, and I wanna help.
Any opinions, or facts would be appriciated. Thanks

Can you get a video or audio recording of the noise?

Couple of thoughts. Is spring noise like you are banging on a spring?

Also, are the surges of power an increase, or a drop and an increase? If it is a drop out, could be fuel pump.

Does the spring sound cut off, or the engine cut off?

If I am not mistaken doesn't royal purple only come in a full synthetic??? Synthetic oil is more difficult to reach combustion, might be something to look into.

I'd be a very rich man if I had a buck for every 'expert' who believes this myth.....

....and spreads it around like gospel.

r24,

FYI, my last oil analysis with full synthetic Mobil 1 0w40 showed a flash point of 390F.

I'm pretty sure the combustion flame is able to exceed that without difficulty...

Xexok the noise is too faint for my for my camera phone to pick up over the road noise and engine noises.

It's like a spring clinking type of noise like a vibration of a spring. The surge of power is a down, up, down, up surge like something is slipping or losing compression, but my car starts fine, and my clutch doesn't seem to have problems. I would like to change my clutch because sometimes on I get the slipage feeling on take off, but I don't think that is the problem.
It's the spring sound that cuts out, and its like a slow cut out not just stops all of a sudden. It more fades out, as it drops intensity. I also noticed that one of my belts squeek slightly on start up. Could this be a pulley problem? Like the squeeking and spring noise? Maybe even the power surges? At one point I think I may have gotten a little oil on the belt, and I tried to spray the belt repair oils on it thinking that would help. Should I try to use it again see if that makes a difference?

Sorry about the Delay. Work has been hell, Navy never gets a day off... Lol
Thanks all for the help!

This is Similar to one of the sounds I have, around the same RPM as the video. I actually took a video I'll upload it shortly, but it's pretty hard to actually hear the sound I have been speaking of.

RX8 Noises - YouTube

This is my video.
The springing noise starts around 7K rpms in this video the first time I get the RPMs high.
Around 1:20 in the video is the most destinct it's still hard to hear, but it's noticable.

You can also hear the sound from the previous video in my video. Same RPMs and pretty much the same sound.-

The first video is a random video of someone else's car. My car isn't an automatic. The second video is my car. My clutch seems to work fine, so I don't think it's that.

Way to much background noise to differentiate anything in that video, sounds like the windows where open.

It's the El Centro, CA roads. They are horrible. We are basically 10 minutes from Mexico, so Cali doesn't care about it. Lol

This is a new video I just took it. 1st and 2nd gear it's noticable, but when I tried to go under passanger side dash the road noise is to loud, but that's where I hear it from when I hear it. This video you can actually hear the spring sound around 8k rpms every pull.

yeah i dont hear any unfamiliar noise, have you owned this car long? are you familiar with wankels? was this symptom always present. If you answer No No Yes I would suggest a visit to a dealership. As the sound your hearing seems to be near impossible to capture via recording device and will need a knowledgable ear to diagnose.

Or a meet up with another owner.

I also don't hear anything unusual in that video.

Right at 12 seconds listen for a springing sort of sound like a spring being shaken between two peices of metal. For me to hear it I use my Turtle beach headphones, and turn the bass way down and the sound up. It wasn't there before, and I'm not long time owner, but it isn't a sound that should be coming from a motor I'm pretty sure. Lol

I added pauses to the video right when it starts the sound when the video pauses listen closely you can hear it..

The only thing i hear at 12 seconds are your secondary intake ports opening. And it sounds likes sex, without the disappointment of premature ejaculation.
