Just bought one, should i take it back?

the engine has a 8yr/100k mile warranty. if you worried that your 60k powertrain warranty might not be enough you can get an extended warranty through the dealer and just have it added to the cost of the car, i got mine till 2013 and it only raised my payment by about $10 a month. well worth it just in case anything does go wrong.
the 100k warranty covers me ?>? the second owner and it was not purchased at a mazda dealer?
what exactly does a powertrain warranty cover? ...
is it too late to get the warranty added to the cost ... they told me, go to a mazda dealer before this warranty expires to see if you can extend it .. i would of gladly paid $10 more a month for piece of mind, i have lost so much sleep crying over this car!

i was offered the warranty when i was signing all the papers to buy the car. i bought mine used at a toyota dealership. it covers everything except basic mainenance stuff like brakes, oil changes etc. if anything goes wrong i take it to the dealer, pay them $50 (deductable) and tell them to fix the car.
the original warranty covers the engine no matter how many owners there has been as long as it hasnt gone past 8yrs/100k miles
dont cry over the car!! i just got my car a month ago and got all worried after reading all the posts in here about ppl having problems. so far i havent had a single problem (except the car goes any which way but straight in the snow). there are alot of really good ppl in here that are able and willing to help you learn about the car and even help fix it if anyhting goes wrong (least in my area they seem to love working on the cars, adding mods and such)
why didnt the dealership offer you an extended warranty when you bough the car? what dealer did you get it at?

lugging. . thank you for clearing that up .. that would be the jerking shaking uh oh moments i have had due to thinking i need to shift before i hit 25mph!!
so this car is not like that, this is more a rpm thing then a mph thing, i just dont know the range yet ... like im in 6th by the time i do 55 mph .. bad thing?
anything above 45 mph would be last gear is what i was always told.
now i think im over the engine problems and on to the fact i cant drive this thing properly! i may be the blame on if it craps out on me! i have heard the word redline but never knew what it meant

The threshold to redline is 8500-9000 RPM, at which you will hear a buzzer (it would probably be entertaining to see your reaction the first time you experience it ). Actual redline is 9000 RPM. At that point, there's no real reason to go further (no additional power beyond 8500, really). Fuel cutoff is approximately at 9500; try not to go to that point (it's not a big deal if you do, though).
This is the beauty of the rotary engine. The fact that it makes power by rotating rather than reciprocating motion, there is far less noise, vibration, and stress generated on the engine at higher speeds. This engine can actually tolerate speeds faster than what it is limited to (9500 RPM), so do not be afraid to let that tachometer needle go to 9.

Well, keep in mind people post when they have problems, and not so much "hey I had an uneventful drive home again today," lol.
My 2004 only stranded me once in 65,000 miles: when I flooded it. Entirely my fault though (I turned it off after a few seconds - still cold). Otherwise, even though I only do the usual maintenance and nothing special, it's been perfectly reliable.
Yep, mine went at around 45,000 miles I think.
And there's been other little issues, like my console door clip always breaks off, and the parking brake boot tears in winter (gets cold and inflexible). Then there's the water in tailights, climate control went crazy... a lot of minor issues with older ones like mine which the various TSBs and recalls pretty much addressed eventually.
But somehow, it just makes the car all the more dear to me, lol. It really is unique. You'll never again own anything quite like it.

whats eating at me is all this talk about bad wires/coils

Bear in mind that when the engine is near redline, it is near its peak power output and is very sensitive to throttle input. I would recommend your first experience be somewhere you feel safe in controlling the car.
I remember my first time running my car out to hear that "beep" after breaking in my new 2006 RX-8. (this was my first manual transmission car, coming from an Elantra) It is something completely new and is quite visceral, scary, and exciting all at once. It gave me goosebumps.

i can not wait to hear that buzzer (never redlined before, this should be fun and scary all at the same time!) glad you warned me but i will probably still pee my pants thinking i did something wrong!! oh the fun of this car now if i can just figure out the whole warranty thing i might just end up keeping it!! no reason to be scared of break downs if its not out of pocket!
i really do thank you for explaining all of this to me, you just have no idea how helpful you all are!!

Seriously, reading too much into the problems talked about on the forum is enough to make you a hypochondriac about this car (it has made one of me at times). I for one have never had any chronic issues with mine. As long as one puts in due diligence of taking care of their car, one should usually not expect it to randomly have problems.

there is always a reason someone gave it up, gets me thinking at 40k miles they didnt want to experience any of the problems it may have coming ...
so i can only assume they have had nothing serviced on it yet .. traded it out before it needed it all ...
sure wish i knew , or could find out!
it is so unique, i am use to boring and ssllllooowww cars, this is like nothing i have ever been in/felt/owned/experienced in my life!! told my hubby if i do trade it for something more conventional that everything else on the road is just so ugly and plain now! gonna be a hard choice
guess my frame of mind was its just like every other car it just looks better but guess not!!
still makes me think, with all the daily driving i do, should i own something i put (cheap regular) gas in and not have to "maintain" .. or have fun during my two hour commute?

oh so very true! i kinda wish i would of never found this site cause i immediately wanted to take it back to the dealer! but now, hearing some of this , my mind is in a little better place .. just really gotta see about the warranty ! guess ill enjoy the ride while it lasts and check the oil every step of the way!!

It's not about where you're going; it's about how you get there. This is a driver's car, so it's all about being involved with the experience.

Also, no need for power steering fluid because the power steering is electric; not hydraulic.
EDIT: Keep these facts in mind if you ever take your car in for maintenance. If you get charged for them, something is fishy with their service; make sure they change your blinker fluid as well.

one more quick question then im off to bed ... can anyone tell me with all this talk about speed, i forgot to ask, is driving it first thing in the morning really slow bad on it?? i ask because it takes about 3 mins to get out of my complex and i go over about 10 speed bumps along the way, so needless to say i am driving about 7mph, does this hurt the engine to go so darn slow??
