Just had engine replaced. AT seems a little weird now.

I just had my engine replaced, I never remember the car doing this before I brought it in, but I had only been driving it 2 weeks.

When I am in 4th gear and coast down to a lower speed, but still fast enough to be in 4th gear, then I accelerate, the RPMs drop suddenly by about 500-1k as if the car shifted.

However, the display says 4th the entire time. It's quite unsettling to be driving around and the car suddenly jerks without switching gears. It's really not a strong jerk, but its enough to be noticable. If it was during shifting I could understand, but it isnt, which is why I'm concerned.

Any insight on this? My car is still under full dealer warranty since I have had it for less than 60 days.

Sounds like it's the torque converter clutch locking; perfectly normal. Check the fluid level just to be on the safe side.

Today this issue was acting up even more. I got onto the highway and accelerated to 65 and my car was still in 3rd gear at around 5 or 6,000 RPMs. After letting off the gas a bit, it shifted to 4th. I've never seen my car rev that high in automatic mode before. Also the numbers of the gears don't always seem to match the actual gear. Sometimes its been shifting once more after it already says the car is in 4th. Like its skipping a number somewhere and has to catch up.

Take it back to the dealer for some transmission adjusting.
