Keyless entry not working

I think I have it narrowed down to the keyless entry receiver. Just going to check the data link continuity between the keyless entry receiver and module, but really have no reason to think there is anything wrong with the wires. I noticed my receiver looks like it got wet (evident on the sticker) I'm not sure if this is the root cause of the failure or not but all the used ones I was checking out on ebay had also been wet.

I'll probably just go ahead and buy a good used receiver but I am concerned about getting it not being compatible with my fob.

Apparently there are 2 different model numbers for the fobs (assumingly different frequencies) and I am concerned that there could be 2 different receivers.

Does any one know if I need a specific receiver?

Car is an 04.

If you would have searched for this topic you would have found an identical thread with all of the info you're looking for.
For '04s it's almost always the fob.

Really? I did search a significant number of threads and none of them indicated any difference or similarity in the frequency of the receiver.

I have already read all the info in the FSM and tried new fobs.

If you read it, why did you make a new thread with an identical title?

I fixed my '04 with a new switchblade fob.
It has to be the right model number and FCC number.
But you already knew that since you read it.

I have already tried new fobs after reading threads on here.

The title is pretty broad. This was done intentionally so that someone might find it if they were having this issue and see that there are other possible culprits to this issue before forking out the money for new fobs.

Unfortunately, as is the case with many threads someone jumps to the conclusion that the OP has not done thier research and replies "obviously you didn't search, search!, etc". Now when someone does actually search, they find thier results inundated with these types of responses rather than good useful information.

Anyhow, in my case, since the new fobs didn't work I'm diagnosing the issue rather than just replacing parts. What I have found it that the receiver was wet. After going through the troubleshooting portion in the FSM it points a bad receiver. Also, after reading other threads on this forum, some people fixed thier issue by replacing the receiver which were also wet at some point.

Now, what I was trying to sort out was if the receivers have any differences before I purchase one.
