No I havent seen that till now. I took the position sensor off and tried to hand turn the key on the stepper motor but I couldn't. At the time I assumed that's how it worked. But after seeing this it should spin so chances are it's stuck. Tommorow I'll pull it off again and try to rotate it, if no luck then I'll start pulling it apart I guess. The strange thing is that the omp lines have oil flowing through them. So I assumed the pump was working fine. Thanks again for the help. Everything else on the rebuild went smoothly and sucks being in the final stretch dealing with this lol.

Well i checked out your link. And tried to follow the steps. But after probing the top and bottom center pins i cant get any battery voltage from the plug. Car was turned on too at the time. I did manage to get the pump key to rotate it was a little stuck but good now. Whats strange though is when i probe both top and bottom center pins with my tester, then ground to negative battery terminal i get full volts then. So that would either be a bad ground or short right? Sorry if this is a stupid question im bad with electrical work.

your question might be better directed to the person who posted it. Could be your switch is bad, but they don’t sell it separately.

Did you even try to adjust it though? Are you even familiar with what it is and how to do it? Again, it is the No. 1 reason for omp limp mode, though there isn’t anything on it from Mazda because they never intended it to be altered after it leaves the factory. There are quite a few threads about it on here.

In my experience if you are getting a code it's usually something wrong with the pump itself

The limp.mode for the positioning switch usually doesn't have an associated code

Try and put the position switch back where it was if you can and see if its happy now it isn't stuck.

Might be a good idea to look for a used one to swap in...

Ill try contact the person who posted that. As far as adjusting the sensor ive tried about aa dozen times with no luck. And i believe i understand how it works, its a stepper motor controlled by the pcm and rotates counterclockwise to open and close. Only thing im not 100% sure about is installing the sensor, i can place it on the pump and rotate it counter clockwise to bolt it on. Or i can plaace it on pump and rotate clockwise to bolt on, i assume that its spun counterclockwise but not 100% sure. Ill try find one from a wrecker i cant find any used ones where i live. Thanks again for the advice guys.

Found the culprit. But not the solution

Well after trying a second pump and getting no where I found out there's no 12v power going to the omp plug. What's even stranger I traced the 2 12v power wires from the plug up the harness and they run down the tail along the transmission. No breaks in the wire anywhere just not getting power for some reason.

So, because this omp plug is suppose to have 12v power. Could I possibly just run my own power wire off of it straight to the battery?

You need to figure out why you don't have power...if you have a chewed harness or something you likely will have other problems as well...better to fix it properly
