Lock Nut Problem...PLEASE HELP!
Ok guys here is the story really need your help with this one. I bought some RPF1's and I put them on my rx8. Im not sure if I had to get new lugs and nuts but they are stock right now. Basically on the last lock nut the keyway to the lock nut broke. So I went to mazda to use their master key, when their mechanic went to take it off the lock nut broke and is stuck on the stud....this happened to both the back wheels. Mazda told me then its gonna be 107 an hour to get them off and they didnt know how long it was gonna take (thats right they want me to pay because they were not the ones who put on the tires and rims).
So I took them to Simply Tire and they tried to use a tool to get them off (i forget what its called). Once they got the tool on and tried the tool broke inside the hole. I dont know wtf is happening because i bought a torque wrench and torqued the nuts to 90lbs which is what I was told is the correct torque. Basically I got 4 lock nuts 2 which are broken in the back and 2 which are whole in the front....how the hell do I get this nut off because it just doesnt want to come out even though there is not a lot of material left on the stud. Really hope you guys have an answer for me

die grinder and a small carbide bur....and a bit of time
.....section the nut at the area that has the smallest amount left...and then give it a smack with a cold chisel to finish breaking it out
Be careful you don't wreck the wheel stud....although it can be replaced....just a PIA to do...especially the rears

Never seen that before. I had a bitch getting my lock lugs off too because the key ways were stripped. Fortunately I got mine off. Sorry to hear your having issues. I honestly have no clue what your best course of action is. G/L.

Same here, the idiots that put on my tires torqued them way to much. Had to go to the dealership, they got mine off but cost me 40$. Call some local shops and see what they will charge to take it off.

its not a question of $$$ its a question of how...I tried pressing a smaller socket over it and removing them no go...I dont know what to do right now i got come hardened steel drill bits and im gonna try drilling down the stud in increments until the wall is thin enough to break it. Then just press a new stud in. I tried chisel but the nut is so rusted and brittle it just breaks lil by lil and still cant remove it.
