Loss of power, ruff idle, wiring short
I have an 04 auto 50,000 miles, had a loss of power and stalled the other day, restarted and it was fine for the next few days.
2nd time it was a loss of power, ruff idleing but was find after a minute, then 5min later 'Check Engine Light' came on with another loss of power and i pull over checked and had a burnt plastic smell and found a little smoke coming from the trans area. Got it towed home, checked under it and the wiring attached to the trans is melted! Must be a short somewhere.
Engine and trans oils are ok, all gauges were reading normal.
Called around yesterday and no one knows what it could be.
Anyone got an idea? Heard of this problem before?

Just remembered had a small bottom out going over a speed hump 2 weeks ago and there is some dents in the cat.
The blue wire connector is badly melted and when it happened the floor above the cat was really hot, maybe this could have melted the tranie wires.
Can a wiring short come from a faulty cat?
