Loss of Top End

Hey folks.

A few weeks ago I ended up with a crack in the top of my radiator and I had that replaced. As I have a MS CAI, the air filter for that was soaked with coolant. The car was run briefly with it soaked, and it still wasn't dry when I got it back. In addition, right before said cracking I changed my spark plugs, coils, and installed BHR ignition wires.

Well, after getting the car back a few weeks ago I noticed some stuttering and two noticeable dead zones in the power band. Car idles and drives normally below ~4.5K. 4.5-7K stutters with low throttle and is like a dead zone WOT. Power comes back around 7K and another dead zone comes on at about 8K till redline. Monitoring AFRs with my MM tune revealed very rich AFRs in the dead zones (~11), as compared to ~13 in the brief moment where power returns @7K. So I suspected the tune with all the changes that have occured, but the car behaves similarly with the stock tune; its not as pronounced, but the lagging is there.

So first, I thoroughly cleaned and dried the air filter. Then I cleaned the MAF sensor a few times. Both seemed to make things a little smoother, but didn't really help. Could the MAF sensor be toast from the coolant despite cleaning? If not, what should I look into at this point? I'm not really in a position to do any maintenance for a few months, and want to avoid doing more logging for MM until I'm sure there isn't a bigger problem.

it sounds like your SSV/APV not operating correctly. or there is some problem in the intake system, maybe throttle body not operating correctly.

have u check those yet ?

The MAF is very sensitive.

Get someone to swap one with you for like 5 minutes.. you will know right away.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Looks like the car is getting a second new engine after failing to start, so I'll see if that completely solves it and go from there.
