Lol. I'm surprised people use these temporary fixes to "avoid" rebuilding an engine.
I'd only do such things for a few weeks while i wait for a new engine or for the parts to rebuild mine to arrive in the mail.
I'm surprised he didn't replace the fuel pump and cat as well since those items also play a role with difficult warm starts.

After 5 years and a little over 40,000 miles it's time for me to replace my engine.
I got my 8 with about 36,000 miles on it and now it has 79,200. I never had a single issue until now.
One day after a 10 minute drive the car died at a stop. After about 2 minutes it started fine, no CEL or anything. A day later on the highway while pushing it from 45 to 60 I got a flashing CEL that stopped after I got off the gas. I thought it may need plugs, coils etc.
I got a compression test today and it failed. In two weeks I should be back on the road.
I'm posting this in hopes that it may help others.
I never had any issues with my car until a few days ago and even today while driving it to the shop for plugs and coils it drove fine but the compression was very low.
I love the car but after I get it back I may leave the world of rotaries.

and it could just be carbon build up and a failing fuel pump..
you never know..

Not saying that this is my problem. I don't think routine maintenance is a rebuild or replacing of the engine. So what you are saying is you just readily have like $2000 to fork out for a rebuild or to replace the engine?
