Low Oil and Engine Coolant lights come on
2007 MT Sport
My low-oil light and low engine coolant lights come on randomly. Often after I've gone 80mph or over for a little while but sometimes at times that I can't predict.
My oil and engine coolant levels are plenty full when these lights come on. I ruined the engine on my last car due to not changing the oil in time so these lights tend to freak me out even though I know the fluids are fine.
p.s. dealer said the car has an ECU mod but had no details.
If this is a typical issue is it something I can get any mazda dealer to service for free somehow? thanks

The cooland light shouldn't worry you. Search the forums for informations.
Do you ever add oil to your car? If you do you may have some sensor issues there as well. Somebody reported it as a rare occurrence a while ago. Can't remember who or why it happens, try searching for that as well.

coolant light is common. its a stuck sensor in the resivoir. oil light has happened before also. iirc it has something to do with the oil pan itself on early models. this only helps if both fluids are full

How long has it been since you last lifted the hood and actually checked the oil and coolant levels?
Your car should be long past the point that the RX-8 was built with faulty oil level sensors. I think that was an '04 only thing.
BC.

I top off the oil and check the coolant levels every two or three visits to the gas station. The coolant reservoir is definitely full and I've had the check oil light turn on during the ride home from having the oil changed, so it's definitely something strange.
