lowered rev limiter?
my 8 has recently been acting like the rev limiter has been lowered to between 4-6k thats the best way i can describe it. it just will not go any higher and i get a flashing cel. just changed the coils plugs and wires a few days ago and it did not help the problem one bit. its a 05 4port w/ aem intake and midpipe with 69K miles. anybody ever had this happen?

sounds like your car is misfiring.
what kind of coils did you install? Mazda oem or ____?
double check your spark plug wires at the plugs. Make sure they are securely fastened. Pull them off, and push them back in until you feel / hear a click.
lastly: you sure the wires are all going to the proper coils? It's a common mistake that can easily be made when swapping coils.

You guys think this is possibally a cold weather issue? My rpm's almost die at stop lights they drop to about 2-300 and jump back up, and my buddy who builds piston engines said it may be due to the weather. The temps here are in the teens. Just a thought bc I never had this issue untill the weather dropped. Also he said it may be due to the fact that cold air is more dense and the A/F ratio would be way to lean causing the said problem due to the engine not getting enough fuel to compete with denser air flow. I have no clue guys iv tried and quadruple checked everything
. My rx is my baby and I can't stand seeing it run like this

Well I do own a scanner I'm throwing codes 2070, 0300, 0301, 0139. so ssv stuck open, o2 sensor (midpipe), and misfire codes. Iv known it's a misfire but idk what's going on bc iv checked and replaced everything that could be causing this. I'm at a loss here

really? checked and replaced everything? so you've done the 20 brake pedal stomp reset? you've checked to see if the trigger wheel is bent? you've checked that the hall sensor is clean and free of debris and checked its harness for shorts?
what have you done to correct the stuck ssv?

20 brake stomp, check. trigger wheel is fine. however im not so sure about the hall sensor as i have no clue where/what that is? can you describe what/where that is for me? sorry im not more knowledgeable in this area of the msp. as far as the ssv nothing really. i mean one day it will throw the code for it the next it won't. it has not caused any performance loss or any negative side effects. it got stuck last winter to and just went away as the weather warmed up. i hooked a hand pump up to it and it works, as john 316 did in one of his vids. (thanks john!).. so im guessing theres a bad vaccum or actuator problem in the cold?? but like i said it seems to work fine and not throw a 2070 in warmer weather
