Question Mazda Service Story

I bought a 2004 Rx8 about a month and a 1/2 ago. After searching on this board I came across other owners who have experienced similiar issues. Love this board for that!

Anywho

She has these small, but annoying defects:

1. The Tempture *** fell off (known issue)

2. Fog in the Tail lights, rainny days
(I imagen this is from the pool of water that collects in the trunk evaporating)

3. Steering wheel rattle (known issue)

It took me all of 2 weeks to realize these small problems; however with all the snow in the North East, the need to go to work and the Service Center(s) not being open on Saturdays after 12:00pm. I did not have a chance to take it "right" back for service on these items.

Since it has been like -10 and I need to defog the windows so I decided to glue the **** back on.

I arrive at the dealer and tell the first person I see where these problems are.

45min later...The service tech tells me he hears no rattle in the stearing colum. Can't check the thermostat **** b/c it doesn't come off, and can't replicate the fog. I completely expected this to occur, of course. It seems to be natural for the service guys to tell you "All is well...keep it moving...nothing to see here"

Sooo....hey buddy lets go for a ride! (10min)

Sure enough....rattle and I showed him how the dial turns in a oval now, cause I had to glue it on.

Service Tech1: "All the rx8's have this rattle"
Service Tech2: " It is completely normal to have fog in the tail lights the 3's do it"

So guess what happens next...we take a spin in another rx8...No rattle!
They admited to this problem.

The **** issue is also a problem they admited to, but depending how hard they have to work to get the **** off they might charge me! Are they freakin joking!

The tail lights--got nothing on this one...so next time it rains I will take pictures and try to get the car to them.

All send in done, it took 3.5 hrs to have these problems evaluated and acknowdleged.

Have you had similar experiences with your Mazda Service Centers ?

the **** has a recall. If they charge you call , Mazda North America and bitch. The other two issues I can't speak about, as I haven't had them. Good luck though!

I have my own stupid story. I call to make my 30k appointment today, and first they ask my name, which they find with a description of my car, did I buy the car there (DUH, this should come up under my name), and THEN they have to go check to see if the car is still covered under warranty at 30k! Um, hello- the warranty is 48 months/50k miles. And then, to top it off, they have to check and see if I still get the free maintenance- shouldn't this also be IN THE COMPUTER? At least this time it appears I won't have to argue- the last two times I've had to get them to call in a service manager to verify I have the free maintenance.

mazda service sucks....

but you shouldn't have glued the **** on... seriously--try to take it off yourself. if you can't, how do you expect them to be able to? and they'll pull something out fo their *** like you modified it or whatever. sad but true.

I took my car to have both ***** replaced because the temperature control **** had cracked. They wrote up on the paperwork that both were replaced. After I left the stealership, I decided to check both ***** to make sure they had both been replaced ........... the f...er's lied to me and had not changed the fan speed **** (which I then noticed had a hairline fracture in a similar location to the big crack on the temp dial).

I went back and asked to speak to the manager ...... after he lied that both were replaced and I showed him they were not, he claimed that the mechanic was unable to remove the fan speed **** and did not want to risk using a screw driver and mess up my car. What a crock of ****. I had removed it by grasping it firmly with three fingers.
