ON Mazdaspeed Exhaust failure (no warranty)

I had the Mazdaspeed SS catback system installed in September 2007 by the dealership. The baffle/pipe within the canisters have separated from the canisters and are now 'jingling' like a loose exhaust shield (drives me nuts when at the drive-thru). Mazda says no-luck 1-year warranty on Mazdaspeed parts. I had Midas cut the tailpipe off the canister, tack the baffle pipe and TIG-weld the tailpipe back on (they did a great job ~$100). Now the LH-side is loose.

Has anyone else had this issue? The cost of the system has gone from $850 in 2007 to $1250. So I may as well look at any of the after market systems to replace the Mazdaspeed.

the racing beat system is amazing. Really really happy with mine. The mechanic that installed it actually called Racing Beat himself to tell them how impressed he was with the build quality.

+1 on the racing beat. It sounds awesome too.
I knew someone who had a problem with his but it was on a mazdaspeed 6. Same problem you were having, I think it got replaced with something different though.

Saw some people having problems with their MS Dual Exhaust.

Mazda Japan does not sell them. they only sell the original one.

Just a question, anybody got the "original" Mazdaspeed exhaust on them? how much do they weight and sound anybody know ?

I have the single and I've had zero issues. As for the specs i'm not really sure about the weight difference but the sound is great and from what I understand it's just slightly quieter at WOT then the dual but not by much.

I have the Dual. It's been on since 2006 and have had no issues. Track, nitrous, 120 Air temps.
I love this exhaust.

Same here, lots of track events and city bumps with very stiff coilovers as well. the welds hold just fine and it doesn't look like our streets "vibrations" did much.
Bad luck in your case? I also had a chance to have a look at a Racing Beat exhaust and the welds were not up to the mazdaspeed's ones so i guess that that's just a matter individual luck.
