Mazsport ignition solutions questions...

I think I know my answer... Does mazsport still exist?

I have a major sputter that developed the other day. It's immediately at start up and never changes. It also won't really rev up over 6k. I honestly thought it may be an apex seal since it was instant and hasn't changed. I had to get it home and drove about 55miles like this! When I got home I diagnosed it and the leading coil on number 2 (3rd back) is not firing at all.

So I am hoping that maybe it is a bad coil.... But still thinking it could be an apex seal. My problem is that it has a mazsport ignition solution which is wired in with alternate connectors and a relay. I have plenty of stock spare coils but can't just easily swap the one out.

Does anyone know what coils mazsport used? Are they ls2 coils?

Thanks,
Stephen

Moderator note to any responding:

Keep this STRICTLY about the technical side and the coils or your posts will be removed. Take passionate opinions regarding the vendor somewhere else.

You might wanna swap it back to Stock coils. As the Mazsport coils are known to cause problems, and they fold before they had a chance to fix it.

or just get newer Revision C coils if you can find them in the states as Mazda NAO don't sell them yet, they got like couple THOUSAND B revision old stock, B isn't bad. You can also source stock coils at auto chain stores like Advance Auto Parts, 4 coils around 80-90 bucks shipped. I think that's something no ONE can beat + it has a lifetime warranty !

why are some banned vendors ok and others not?

There should be threads on the forum that explain what they are. Too bad you didn't do your research before acquiring them.

Serious... I am guessing you posted just to subscribe to see the gossip.

Just in case you didn't....
1.) I couldn't find any useful info using the search function or google. Can you? Did you try before you posted your comment?
2.) I didn't do ANY research before buying them because I didn't buy them. The car is used with over 150k. I have put 35k on the car and they had already been installed. Because of the mileage I am suspecting something worse but since I did test for spark and found no spark from this coil I am suspecting it may have gone bad. Figured I would start with that and hope that it is the issue. Doubtful but hopeful!

To be honest I have only trolled on these forums for the last 2 years. Posted far less times than you and admit that I don't read every thread every day. Probably not even 1% of them. I apologize for coming off strong but honestly a LOT of your posts are useless info telling people to go search. Honesly why bother even posting that? We have more useless posts like that on this forum than any other forum and it really doesn't help anyone. Honestly the RX8Club forums have to be amoungst the LEAST INVITING forum that exists. I am often embarrassed at how newbies are treated but keep my mouth shut. When you come onto my thread that I started and do the same then I have to open up and tell you the truth. I bet 90% of the community probably feels that same way and wouldn't be upset if you stopped these kinds of degrating posts.

Bye the way, honestly, thanks for the quick no effort answer, next time skip your entire first post and just say that. It would help everyone out in the future.

Stephen

PS: Someone gave me a lead to get my answers I needed via PM.

No worries, I e-mailed them and I am waiting to hear back. But I am honestly leaning towards throwing them away and just swapping it back to stock to test them and see if I have other major internal issues.

Ya... that is what I am thinking I have a complete engine harness I can swap out, just a PIA to do it all here at the house in the driveway in the snow. I really don't feel like driving it causing more damage or loading it on the trailer to bring it to the shop!

Thanks to both of you for your help!
Stephen
