Misfire and a lot of codes

Hey there, had a little problem while I was leaving work today and I thought I would make a post on here to see if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I know there is a lot of information out there on misfire problems, I just wanted an opinion from someone as to what the first couple steps should be here to fix this.

Let me start with some basic information.

2004 manual, 97500 miles.

mods:

turboxs catback exhaust with race pipe, probably about 10k miles since I put that on.

tein coilovers.

Changed spark plugs at around 65k same with coils.

So, here is the story. Everyone left work, I stayed late to finish some stuff up, when I went out to start my car I started it and everything was normal. Or so I thought, as I was settling in while the car was idling, it started to shake a lot and the exhaust was stuttering. I looked at the dash and the cel was flashing, so I used my little obd2 adapter thingy to grab the code readout on my phone.

Got P0300,O0037,P0301 and P0171.

After a few minutes, I turned the car off and went inside to look up some stuff on the forums, went back out there and tried the 20 break pedal stop reset.

Nothing changed, I had to get home so I started the car again, the problem was still the same. I then started driving going up to only 2500-3000 rpms and it was driving ok but the stutter was really bad. I was coming up to a light that was up a steep hill and I had to stop, after the light turned green I gave it a bit more gas to get going and I probably went up to around 4-5k not really sure wasn't looking. After I went up the hill the stuttering, shaking and the flashing of the CEL stopped.

I then kept on driving home, everything was normal, except the CEL was still on, not flashing, just on. Took the read out again and came back with the same codes.

My question is, does anyone know what would cause this to happen, and after revving it up higher cause it to go away instantly?

I will try to do more research when I get home but I have to go to school. I'm not gonna take my car for now, just gonna let it sit in the garage.

If anyone has any info, that would be great. If not I'll just keep looking around.

Thanks for your time.

Looks like you might have a front O2 sensor failure. Run the "test results" in Torque and post those results.

Otherwise, 32,000 miles on coils, plugs and wires means it's time to change them again.

Ok, will do that when I get a chance after school, thanks for your suggestion.

Alright here are the test screenshots from torque, I also included another one with the CEL codes. I will replace the plugs and coils very soon, where is the best place to get them? I think I've seen post people say the stock ones are good? Any thoughts on that?

Thanks in advance!

The front O2 seems to pass the tests, so lets set that one aside for now.

I'd do coils, plugs, and wires first, since you are due anyway. If the problem continues, then come on back.

So I finally got some time, ordered plugs, coils and wires and started the project.

I ran into a little problem, when I was taking the coils off the bolts snapped off where the nuts were attached on the two middle coils, I have enough bolt left to put them through the hole in the coil, but there is not enough thread to secure it with a nut.

Any ideas on what I can do, how are the bolts mounted to the frame holding the coils? How critical is it that they be secure with the nuts?

Thanks in advance, im gonna go change the plugs for now and come back to check here in a little bit.

It's not hugely critical, but no, you don't want them bouncing around there for thousands of miles.

You can unbolt that whole plate, and probably get a replacement from one of the many part out threads in the classifieds section.

Hey again, wanted to do a quick update on my situation.

Installed everything, coils, plugs and wires. With coupon codes it only cost me about 160 from advance auto parts, everything was super easy, except removing the coils. Nuts got stuck and snapped the bolts, until i get a replacement bracket, they are securely zip tied to the ones that didnt snap.

First of all I wanna thank everyone that responded, I have no more codes, the car starts right up, smooth idle, and definitely got some power back. It pulls a lot harder from lower rpms, as well as the top end.

Some things to tell people attempting to do the same project.

Definitely have one of those rotating angled socket adapter things (I know, very technical) it helped me so much when I was taking out the spark plugs and the coils. Obviously, you wanna take off the wheel, and make sure you have a few extensions handy.

Like I said I didn't run into many problems and I'm really glad I did this. If you are on the fence about it, just do it. It helps so much!

Thanks again, I'm glad to be a part of this awesome community of people that not only share the same car, but the same passion for all cars!

P.S. that awkward moment when I realize that only one person was responding, haha THANKS!
