More problems
Well guys, the other day I had a really rough time getting my 2005 Rx8 started. When my dad and I finally were able to start my car there was quite a bit of white smoke. We found some white goo in the oil. I already know that this is not a good sign. After running it for a bit the white goo was no longer there. I started it up again the following day to make sure, and the goo was back. My car has not been running any hotter than normal and I use the correct oil you are supposed to use. I have had it changed every 3,000 miles. My car has roughly 44,000 miles on it now. I need some help addressing this problem.
Now take in mind my car had sat out on the street for a few days without use on a slight incline. It has been cold here in GA. This isn't the first time I had the starting problems. I changed the plugs at about 42,000 miles as well. I am just trying to give as much detail as possible.
THANKS,
agency_RX8

white goo is normal in cold temps ... just water condensation in the dipstick hole, not to be alarmed about.
White smoke could be coolant ...
Watch some seafoam videos to see what kind of white smoke people get when de-carbing...
need some more info ... do you think you could have experienced a minor flooding event?

I am sure it was flooded, but the weird thing is that it would not be the first time it has been flooded. What usually causes a car to flood? I will also see if later I can get some pics for you guys.

Did you only have white smoke that one time after it wouldn't start, or is it on almost all startups? When it is really cold it can be easy to confuse steam with smoke. It's normal to have a decent amount of steam coming out of the exhaust on startup, but once its been running for a few minutes steam will either get a lot less noticeable or go away completely.... If it is smoke and not steam though, white smoke does usually indicate coolant in the exhaust....
Yeah, the white stuff on the dip stick is normal in cold weather...
The engine can flood when the car is cranked then shut off before it gets a chance to warm up. Just let it warm up before shutting it off and it shouldn't flood...

Take it to Mazda, check the ECU flash updates...
Flooding is supposed to be resolved in later flash versions.
A little gunk from condensation in the oil is normal for a cold engine, change the oil soon.
