getting legal with my clutch problem
i have been talking to a law firm about my situation. comes to find out if they don't fix the clutch under warranty then they are breaching contract. the warranty is for 12,000 miles and my clutch gave out at 7,099 miles.
i had asked if i could get some coments from owners who had clutch problems in another thread and was wondering if i could get you to e-mail the statements you all made to me with your name and contact info along with your comment. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...8&page=3&pp=15 that is the link to the thread if you just want to copy and paste. your help will be very much appreciated. my e-mail is isuzutrooperfan@yahoo.com

uhmm the warranty usually only covers the drivetrain doesnt it and i guess electrical problems? and i dont think anyone covers the clutch under warranty because it is a item that wears down over time and differs with everyones driving habits.
but good luck with it!

the thing about it is, if i was the only one having problems then it would be one thing, but there are a lot of people having issues with the clutch. with many of them exploding! srmotorsports even says the clutch slips http://www.srmotorsports.com/rx8_clutch_flywheels.html

Don't trust and ad for an aftermarket clutch. Someone trying to sell you something cannot be used as a reference like that.
I'm just curious how many of the people who have had clutch problems (be honest here, totally) dumped the clutch "maybe just once or twice" to do a burnout, wheelspin, etc..
I've never done it, and don't plan to, but I'm wondering if that is a related factor here.

I wasn't sure what to think about bigblockbeater's clutch - but I got to sit in his car and drive it in a parking lot, and I have to agree something is very wrong with it.
The clutch itself is very hard to depress, and it acts like it's half way down already when it's all the way up. So you have to rev it to like 4-5k to start moving, and even then it's crawling. I bet he could shift without pushing the clutch.
abbid mentioned to me that his car always felt like that (hard to press clutch), and bigblock said the same. I think their issues are one and the same.

... I would have to vote against Lemon Law. I've been there. First, the warranty does not cover wear and tear parts... That's the first thing they will say. But, as Abbid said, there are exceptions. If it is burnt you will have a hard time fighting it, but they would probably give. Technically, if it's burnt, they do not have to replace it. In my case and most others, it exploded or came apart. This should not happen in any circumstance.
I was without my car for 40 days the first time, then 12 more, then 95 or so the third time. The best thing to do is make SURE you get in touch with the district rep. I was tossed around like a ping pong ball until I finally talked to someone that had some say so in the decision. The dealership only gets paid for the warranty Mazda pays for, and Customer Assistance can't give authority for a repair.
Abbid, still having issues?

That sucks though, let me know how it goes.

Clutch disengage 'click'?
Hey guys. I've got an 05 and considered posting to the stickied transmission issues thread but the problem(aside from the occasional grind to second) I'm running into is a little strange.
In short, I push the clutch in and it doesnt feel like it disengages in synch with my foot motions. At slow speeds(pulling in to park) this is increasingly noticable. There is even a 'twang' or 'click'(think of a cable being pulled taught) if that makes any sense at all like something is giving very slightly before it actually disengages.
I only notice it after I've been driving for a while. Ideas, suggestions?

take that car to the dealer asap! tell them everything that is wrong or think may be wrong. have them put everything in writing. if they tell you its normal wear and tear (as they did me) then raise hell. i am going so far as to get an attorney to get my problem fixed. do a forum search on "clutch" you will be amazed at what you find.

My clutch gave up w/ 4k miles and they replaced it. The dealer never gave me any paperwork they simply stated it was bad. (I found that odd) They said they would mail it however I never received anything.
The clutch went during a downshift from5-4th.

I also get this grinding/heavy rattling noise when I accelereate, this noise is especially loud in 4th gear when i'm in lower rpm (under 3500). is this the same thing you guys are experiencing? the noise is actually getting louder!
