One thing we have to remind everyone is there is 1.8qts between the "H" and "L" on the dip-stick. In alot of casses we can drive 2.5-3k miles and just change the oil before we get to the "L".

Song by the Beach Boys

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

The little old lady from Pasadena
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Has a pretty little flower bed of white gardenias
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
But parked in her rickety old garage
Is a brand new shiny red Super Stock Dodge (Blue RX-8)

And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's the terror of Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

If you see her on the street don't try to choose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
You might drive a goer but you'll never lose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Well, she's gonna get a ticket now sooner or later
'Cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator

And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror of Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

~Instrumental~
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
~Instrumental~
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
The guys come to race her from miles around
But she'll give 'em a length then she'll shut 'em down

And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

My 8 does not burn oil. I am a veteran member of the "No Problem RX8 Club" lol. Never had a flooded engine, does not burn oil, etc. I get between 250 and 300 miles on a tank. I need to do the recall though.

I was thinking the same thing. Gotta love it.

FWIW, I drove my father's RX-8 very hard for about 2,000 miles, during which is used maybe half a quart.

Based on the reliability data I've gathered so far, even with models that have subpar reliability many owners will still experience no problems. Just a matter of how low the average problem rate is these days. Forums can make problems seem much more common than they actually are.

Still looking for more RX-8s.

I am getting close to my 3,000 mile oil change and the oil level is still pretty darn close to full. I added one quart around 2300 miles, took in for a change at 3300, none since- around 6200 now,

i used to burn a lot of oil until i had the recall + first oil change done. in addition to more dings on my car door, alhambra f'g mazda probably left a trunk monkey in there, and that's why it never runs dry. goddamn those bastards. lol

the new recall should actually increase the 'oil burning' rate.

i'm with most of the others, ~1 quart every 3,000 miles.

Can anyone else go this long without adding oil? Is there any reason why some people state that the RX8 consumes massive amounts of 5w20, but my car doesnt? Thanks for the responses.
You will young Skywalker.... you will!!! (Just give it some time for seals and mating surfaces to wear a little bit).

My car use to require about 1gt every 600 miles or so. Since my last oild change its been 1,100 mi and still at full? This is strange. I had the recald done in Nov. so that's not it. Presently I have 21K on the engine. Can't say that I'm complainig but just strange.
