Is it my starter?

Is it my starter?
I own a 2007 6MT with over 120k. Last few days on occasion when I start it up, I hear the click then there's a pause, then it starts up. This morning when I tried to start it There was the click, dash lit up, but nothing after, not a sound. I tried turning the key again then it started. Is it my starter? Anyone have any ideas what it might be??

Sounds like battery to me. The click is the relay turning on, but if the battery can't provide the necessary current (as opposed to voltage), the starter can't turn. The pause could have been due to the faulty element heating up before it would function properly.
Could be the battery post, could be a dirty/loose ground strap, could be a failure within the battery itself. Easy things to check before spending money.

I second what Loki posted. Sounds like a weak battery. Check that first, then if that is at full strength, move on to the other items on the list. Test first, before you spend money.

When I had a bad starter, I turned my key and nothing happened. Dash did not go black and starter did not turn. Based on my experience, i'd say it's your starter, but you can always test your battery to check whether or not it outputs good voltage and amperage. Places like O'Reilley's should have a free battery tester you can use.
You can get a 300rpm starter for 50$ off ebay or a nice yellow top Optima for $120.
Good luck

Good call. I had the battery tested... Still strong, pretty much 100%. Though the starter is corroded and not always grounding properly on starts. Just as I feared, starter is going...Thanks for all the info guys. So I guess I'm now in the market for a good starter.
Any other thoughts?
