Need help Intake Vales need replacement?!!!
Hey guys I got my car recently and went into a limp mode with no CEL
I took it to the Mazda and they diagnosed me with the following
Bad OMP
4 Intake valves need replacement
Bad CAT
For a total of 3600 plus tax... Ridiculous IMO (I dont have the money right now)
WHAT WORRIES ME: I could not find much information about the intake valves, why they go bad?, or DIY or advice of some sort. It seems strage to me that all 4 valves are bad....
definitely I can throw in a strait pipe and go CATless for not that much.
Also I can Premix so that my engine is lubricated, However I don't know if I should stay that much time w/o an OMP or how important it is.
I asked about flashing the ECU and they told me this would not change the fact that the OMP is went bad...
Please advice on the Intake valves I do not see much info on the forum, also the OMP can I premix and just forget about it?
Thank you so much in advanced...

I live in miami. Soooo my car doesnt have four intake valves? Im a little confused.
The quoted me 800 in change to replace the valves.. is this something i have to worry about. Or can i drive like that as i said :i could not find alot of info about these valeves.
And if i premix can :i forget my bad omp or would i still be in limp mode?

There really isn't 4 valves..there is one SSV..that opens 2 intake runners...and one APV..that opens 2 runners....and a VDI that opens between the 2 intake runners at high RPM's...and a valve on the intake that changes the length of the intake tract
The last 2 basically never go bad...the intake valve you can remove with no consequences, and I have never seen a VDI that had a valve problem. The actuator might quit..but the valve itself never.
The SSV can be removed and cleaned with the engine in the car..and it is the most likely to be stuck. The APV can be gummed up...but it requires the lower intake manifold to be removed from the engine...and that requires the engine to be pulled to get to it
To me...there seems to be an awful lot wrong all at once...the MOP position switch is the most common problem with the pump..and I have reset most with them working great for years. You could find a used pump and have very good probability it will work as well
If it were me...I would find a non-dealer shop with someone that has a clue to diagnose this before you start throwing that kind of money at it

Do you have access to an OBD2 reader? You'll know quick enough why its actually going in to limp mode.
Of the items listed only the OMP would throw it into limp mode.
"Valve" work is likely cleaning your SSV and zoom-zoom cleaning.
CAT can be replaced or removed completely with far more cost effective means. If you go with a cat less mid pipe be prepared to not pass emissions.

Did you do any of the other things people suggested in your previous thread(plugs, coils, wires, checking your cat)? Did you go to this same dealer to replace your clutch after you said limp mode somehow messed it up?
This car seems like a POS and I don't see how it could suddenly have all these problems a few days after you bought it, did you not notice anything during your test drives?

did they give you a written estimate including what is actually wrong? id liek to read what they atually told you what was wrong not your interpretation of what you heard. i want their exact words

my cars OMP went bad in the first 4000 miles. they replaced for free. But it did throw a CEL and it did go into limp mode. DO NOT DRIVE IT. I had it towed from the side of the road and the dealer told me it is a good thing I did because my OMP was next to dead. I was getting zero lubrication and could have ruined the motor even if i stayed in limp mode.
The valve thing is another issue completely.....

Mazda's test shows that even without a working mop, the engine will not get much damage as long as its kept running at lower rpm and not for too long, s1 omp sucks either way, let it be the.nozzle location, the pressure its seeing
This dealership is already trying to rip u off by saying to clean 4 intakr valves, there is no such thing, ssv and apv is not something that will effect anything under 4k rpm operation
Engine rotor's location determines the intake and exchaust timing, thats why i saod tjere is no intake valve, ssv and apv is to control air velocity at such wide rpm range
As for omp, the easiest way to tell is if u cant go over 3k rpm with cel, then its most likely in limp mode
So just find out whats the cel from ur car then work it from there

Pay me 2k and cover me a night or 2 of hotel, i fly to florida with my tools to fix ur problem
And i will include parts for a brand new updated part from mazda to prevent.this from ever happening again.
As for thr omp, i can jave a used one ready assume urs really failed, if not, take 200 bux of
Takes about 4 hours, think about it, i am ready and willing to travel,

SOOO finanlly I went to the dealership I am taking it out of there on tuesday...
IT needs 3 Solenoid Valves (114.46) each and Intake gaskets. All this takes 3.5 hours of labor they said.
Attached are the codes they got.
about the OMP I bought one from the forum and its getting here tomorrow.
My concern is the INTAKE suggestions or ideas? are they tring to rip me off, would the car work with out it?
THANK you guys
EDIT : Looks like the pic is too small but the codes are the following:
U2516 - (can) uncluster detected failure
U1900-FF Communication Bus fault.
U0073
U1900 - Missing the CAN message from PCM
U2516 - Transmit error
P0301- Misfire
P1688 OMP
p0076 - Intake Valve Control circuit low
B1342 ECU Defective
B1933 Airbag Circuit open.

Whe are supposed to be able to read that
Which intake gaskets..between the UIM and the lower?..the o-ring type coral colored ones?
It is unlikely that you need all of them...you likely have a vac leak. Seems really strange that all the solenoids failed at the same time..sounds unlikely to me

RESET IT and see what comes back ..the U codes are all com errors....the rest do not indicate that all your Solenoids need replacing
Typical "throw parts at it" kind of dealer crap
I would wiggle the positioning switch on the MOP and see if it will behave. Maybe loosen the screwa and turn it a couple of degrees and try it again...if not try the other way a few...usually that will work
