Need info after the rebuilt

The car is at the mechanics, we used Atkins cryo seals. When he went to start it the first time it would not turn on. He had to push it. Then he put around 70 miles and now the car when cold will turn on after the 2nd try. When hot takes longer. What could it be? I take it that the motor needs to build compression, what can we do to get it starting right?

PM Houstonrx8er, we just had to rebuild his motor a month after the first build due to the shitty *** Aktins crap. He went with OEM this time and all is well. Atkins Cryos suck, not sure why so many people push them. You can read his build thread but a compression test confirmed it after it just would not start on it's own. When we pulled it apart he pretty much confirmed the seals were bad. Atkins will likely just blame the builder.

I keep reading that, Atkins need to man up and do something about this then!!!

Do you think we can build compression somehow or are we screwed?

We were able to get his started by push starting it or injecting premix in to the combustion chamber but as soon as you shut it off it would not start again. I would push start it and then go for a long drive. If after the long drive it still doesn't want to start then the compression is FUBAR.

Yeah running the Atkins cost him a lot of time and money. Luckily he had the means (and patient and understanding wife) to deal with it because for most it would have been a serious issue. I would have went on a shooting spree.

Car been in the shop for 5 months. The mechanic has called Atkins and they said they had no issues, but I think he kept calling and they actually said that we need to "drive the car"
we have over 100 miles and its starting on its own but has to crank 2-3 times.
My mechanic has been great. Even let me borrow a car!! Im so pissed and so is he lol this is crazy.
Atkins needs to do something about this!!!!

you're in a tricky situation because the motor wasn't built by Atkins or installed by them, they have no way of knowing what was done with their parts so they will not "man up" and just send you more parts.
I've seen fresh rebuilds have difficulty starting and when they are started, usually they'll be ran idle for about an hour and then driven.

Since you've put 100 miles on it, it's long overdue for a compression test.
If that comes in low, then you really only have 1 option at that time.

Well if it starts on it's own then that is a little better but if after a couple hundred miles it does not start on it's own when warm then I bet it has low compression.

^should we keep driving it more? He says its getting better every day. But my question is will it get to the point that it will crank fine? He says it idles fine when its on.

Or this seals will just not work?

Also if there are a bunch of people having the same issue with the Atkins cryo seals something needs to be done!!

I think you should keep driving it man and see if it works itself out but if you get to 200 miles and it hasn't then it will likely need to be rebuilt again. Honestly hard starting rotaries are common but that is not the way it should be if it is rebuilt properly. A properly rebuilt Rotary shoudl crank and run no problem. My engine from Pineapple fired up the first time as if it had been fired up the day before.

Yeah the mechanic is going to drop it off today cause I can put more miles on it quicker than he can. Ill keep you guys posted.
