New Flash Is Available
WDS level 35.2 has a new Flash for the RX8. the new flashes are SW-N3Z1EN000 and SW-N3Z2EN000 for 6mt and 4at respectively. these "should" (one must assume that with a known issue Mazda has done their due diligence in testing this flash) take care of the many repeating false cels that people are getting. if they do anything other than that i dont know right now. So if you have been getting alot of cels ( get it flashed drive away fromt eh dealer and the cel pops again etc) than you should get this when you can. remember that not all service centers are fast at getting their WDS calibrations done so it may be a week or 2 before this gets down to each and every dealer. if you have no cel problems currently then i would not suggest trying to get this until you do have some problem. If you have gotten a flash done since mid to early november i would suggest trying to get this flash, since the flash you got was more than likely a buggy one.

I think I already got this.
Got the latest flash back in October, and got a CEL that would not go away a couple of weeks later. The dealership told me that had to wait for a new flash to fix the issue. In November they got the fix and I have been problem free ever since. While it is possible these two flashes are different, I don't think so. I will take a look at my stickers and let you know.
If this is the same flash it doesn't add any power, so don't get excited.

I got mine done in June or July so I guess I'll leave it as it is unless I am told to do something different or something else goes wrong. Does anyone know if anything was changed except the CEL fix?

Got my car reflashed Tues the 18th with the supposed lastest and greatest version. I had quite a few CEL's for bogus reasons. So far so good, but its only been two days.

N Flash: Notes, Complaints, Etc.
Well i took my car in because of the white crap on the dipstick. I think some bum was just haveing sex with my car because of the rx8 looking so sexy. Well anyways they said the talked to mazda today, took them 4 hours to return there call on that and they said it is normal for rotary engines, i think somebody already posted that any, so just in case that is normal on our cars. Like we believe mazda. I also took my car in becauase i had the "m" flash and i was getting 210 miles per tank, until the light came on anyways, from day 1. And i have almost 12,ooo miles on the car. Well a month ago it went down to 175-180 about 30-35 miles per tank gone instantly. Well i called them to check on the car and they said it will be done soon we are downloading the latest program into the car and i said ok.. It is the N flash because on the receipt it had like
-pn32-???-n. I have it in the car but it had n through the code. Well i'm no rocket scientist, but i don't think the reflash will help because the "M" flahs didn't get damaged right. So it's something mechanical that caused the fuel drop correct. I'm asking you guys on that one. Because they think the new flash is going to help. But i will keep you guys posted on that. Sorry for the long *** letter i apologise. I like giving details so i don't get asked stupid questions later.

I thought that the pin # with the N was just a revised M flash. I'm sure someone would have made an announcement, but I am not omniscient. Whatever it is you got, good luck with it man, and if it is N keep us updated.

The guy told me they had to download it today from Mazda, to get the program into there computers then he could put it in my car. So i know as much as you guys do if it is a totally new N flash. But now my RPM's are stable right at 800 no fluctuation like before. But i'm not sure about the way the car feels. Feels like it has lost a little bit of get up and go but i will keep you informed on that...

Finally, someone has brought up this issue. I was getting anywhere from 450-525km per tank steady highway driving prior to getting the 'M' flash. Since the 'M' flash, I have yet to see myself break 400km. And yes, I fill the tank till it flows out of the pipe, and yes, I drive about 20km after the refuel light comes on. Something to note, manual 6 speed was manufactured Aug. 2003. After reading many reviews pertaining to fuel comsumption, it appears to me as if the 2003 models have better fuel consumption numbers than those built post 2003.
Anyhow guys, my car goes in for this cold weather 'flash' later this week. I mentioned the reduced fuel consumption and they said that they will address the issue and it may be fixed by the new 'flash'.
I'll let you all know if I get my 500km tanks back. Between you and me, I enjoyed the older flash more, yes, the new flash is smoother, but the old, 'whip lash' was nice. So was 500km per tank too
.
Thanks for the thread.

difference between M and N flash
hello
what is the difference between these two flashes? do you have to have the M flash put in first before you can get the N, or if my dealership has the N flash now, can they put it in? i don't believe i currently have either of these. my car has trouble starting up sometimes in the cold weather. which flash will cure this problem??
any feedback is greatly apprieciated
thx

For what it's worth, I got the new flash on Friday while my car was in for a new battery (I had the previously halted version) and I have nothing to report. No noticeable change in power, gas mileage, CELs - nothing. They had already replaced my CAT ( Catalytic Converter :p ) based on the possibly faulty CEL from the bad version.
